I did the Pyrenees trip via Bilbao last year. Zig zaged across the Pyrenees between France and Spain on some fantastic drivers roads. The Alpine was just brilliant. These types of roads are where it's at its best. In some small French Pyrenean villages got some very enthusiastic approval. Some said it was the first A110 they'd seen.

The Basque Country is great fun to drive. When returning home, make sure to spend a few extra hundreds of miles to drive around the Landes de Gascogne though (towards Agen and Bergerac). Otherwise you will find yourself driving on those boring straight roads for hours and hours with nothing but woodland on both sides.

Thanks for the thread LJ: it sounds like you had a great trip! It was helpful to read about using an Alpine 'long haul', along with the pros and cons of the car when used as a GT.

Oh, and by the way, I've got a boring blue one biglaugh

Nothing better to do on a cold January day than plan for summer adventures. My Alp is in for a treat in 2024.

Easter: Down to Cornwall for a week (min 1100 miles round trip)
Summer: Just booked a two stop French adventure taking in Annecy then down the Route Napoleon and across to Uzes, then back via Milieu viaduct (min 2500 miles round trip)
September: Down to Angouleme for the Circuit des Remparts (min 1900 miles round trip).

Really looking forward to it and exactly the type of use I'd bought it for - lots of 'GT' type distance and fun when you get there.
Luckily we've cracked the whole packing issue with appropriate squishy bags for front and rear and a disciplined approach to taking only what we need.

Just completed the planning and booking accommodation for my Spring NC500 trip, 1700 miles in 8 days. Later in the year I aim to take the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander and then mess about in Spain and maybe a run into Portugal before driving back over the Pyrenees and up through France. I shall start planning that next week. Looking forward to some epic drives.

Fortunately Mrs L has embraced the lightweight ethos; she tends to travel light anyhow, and has booked an air b'n'b with a washer/drier for day five of our twelve day trip!

Different type of road trip q.
Whilst in the dealer, I saw a marketing broadsheet size thing called UK Road Trip with some great photos in it.
Didn't take time to look at what date it was published etc as was just waiting for the salesman to return
Does anyone have a link to the brochure, or to download press photos etc ?
I think it was to promote the launch of the GT, but a link to a similar brochure I have found for the German road trip predates it, from 2018.
The UK road trip started in London, went to Manchester (poss via Bham?), Lakes/N.Wales ? and finally Scotland.
All searches so far have really turned up a blank.

Hi, I nabbed a copy of that a while back; it’s called “Road trip - England & Scotland”, dated September 2018:

Lovely thing - I’ve recreated a number of the shots from it. I’ve not tried to track down the digital versions however, sorry!

We'll also be in Angouleme for Circuit des Remparts (part of a 2-week tour), might see you there!
(Then we're heading to Switzerland, Italy, various lakes and passes, then up to Nurburgring and then home).

Been driving North for three days, until this afternoon I got to the most northern point in the UK mainland, Started out this morning from Inverness on the NC 500.

Enjoy, the scenery is amazing. The best driving roads are down the West coast, I found the steep, undulating single track roads were easier in manual. Look out for potholes on these roads!
