I saw an old Type 132 thread, but thought it needed a proper 'E' name.
Prices announced officially yesterday - what do we think? At the moment it seems to be in a very small sector, with only perhaps a hot Model X or Taycan Sport Turismo as competition.
Whatever your opinions of Lotus are, Geely aren't in it to mess about, and will grow the brand.

Personally, I may have been interested if it had a V8 engine

Loving it so much that I put an order in for an R. Looks more exciting to me than ModelS/ModelX that I've had on order for years without a delivery date still.

It’s interesting as a long term admirer of the brand, I think it gives it global appeal. It isn’t my cup of tea in looks and i don’t have that amount of money to spend on that sort of car but think it will be a huge success forgotten how many they have deposits on in China, think more than they have sold other cars in 10 years.

What it says to me is Lotus is going for it and whilst it may not make the cars I want in the future I’m delighted that Lotus won’t disappear and I believe will do incredibly well in the future.

Lotus will develop in Asia, as the 'British' brand has some value. Here in Thailand we see lots of MG cars on the road now. Just cheap tat vehicles with an MG badge and nod to a UK flag.

I went to the same event! Red Taycan, presumably one of the others in the car park was yours? I'm deliberating whether to put an order in, but as it's apparently refundable I am tempted to. I'm finding the range of my CT Turbo a little too limiting for my (work) use and was hoping an Eletre 'S' might be better in that respect.

What impressed you, anything specific?

My impressions: Eletre looked a bit like a sharper Kia Sportage or similar I thought. Ok on the outside. Interior looked and felt good, but overall, I still prefer the Porsche look and feel, and I wonder whether it is the Chinese collaboration that has influenced the look and feel of the vehicle. It's massive though, as are all EVs with any usable range, so that can't be a specific complaint reserved for Eletre. I'm a bit conflicted TBH and although I liked the Eletre, it didn't really excite me. I have a deposit down for an electric Macan, whenever that appears, but it would be good to see the Eletre road tests early next year. One way or another, it's just a work vehicle, so if it drives well, is put together well, and has a better range than other competitors (which seem very limited in that particular segment), then all looks good for Eletre.

Flying Machine - the car park was a bit like a Taycan owners' club mtg smile Mine was the dark blue CT Turbo .

I've put a deposit down on the quick one but will reserve final decision until I read the road tests and drive one .
I really like the Taycan , so it will need to be very good .

I am surprise at the acceleration quoted for the lower powered ones - 600bhp and probably 2500kg should be similar to the Turbo Taycan ( although I think the lower powered one doesn't have a 2 speed transmission) .

The interior quality reminded me of my previous I Pace , which isn't a bad thing.
It is big thou.

Interesting .

im keeping an eye on it - assuming the electric vehicle capital allowance relief stays in place (doubtful) you can effectively buy any electric car at half price, so the more expensive model will be c.70k minus trade in value

I am waiting for the release of the finance figures so I can look at this as an option through salary sacrifice scheme, but despite being advised at one of the events they would be about by end of November it seems they still haven't released them.

Anyone else been told anything more accurate as to when they will have these so leasing companies can provide costings?

Despite chasing and contacting Lotus FS - the only feedback I got was the finance figures will be released "later in 2023". I asked for any specifics, even quarters but they said they didnt know.

Won't be hanging around before ordering elsewhere, but also seeing the way they have communicated with potential buyers on the Emira has put me off one to be honest and I may go with the Taycan.

Finance figures are now on the Lotus UK site and I can see the odd leasing company is quoting on them now.

Doesn't seem to be a full release as 99% not listing them and the UK Lotus site still saying awaiting type approval but I am assuming (and hoping as havent ordered elsewhere yet) that full release of figures is soon.

Received an email from Lotus today saying I can now confirm a spec having put £2k down last year. Spent 20 mins or so on the configurator and this is where I have go to so far - some details to review and finalise:

S comes in at £122k (the link below is £120k but I forgot to add comfort rear seating at £2k)
https://www.lotuscars.com/eletre/code/09BLI5QZ33

R comes in at £130.6k once the comfort rear seating is added
https://www.lotuscars.com/eletre/code/ZKKQGCQ216

Strangely, the premium sound system is standard on the S but a circa £3k option on the R. Seems strange.

It is a private purchase (for my OH) so no company car tax breaks to avail of. Now trying to get my head around a few things. More for me to mull over than seek answers on but feel free to offer any thoughts!

1) am I mad dropping this much on a car that is a LOT cheaper for company car drivers (could be lots around)?
2) S or R? One has ~20% more range. The other has a 2 speed transmission and ~900bhp....
3) head says another hybrid Range Rover Sport (locked the spec on one back in July 2022 - due late 2023. Heart saying Lotus. We won't keep both.

Decisions, decisions...

Did you get any finance / lease figures on those specs ?
I’m waiting to see how it drives before I progress or request my deposit back . I think that this will be key to resale/demand
