i guess you're right. The iminent Lotus Emiya 'may' take some of the potential Eletre customers, so it'll be interesting to see what this may do to residuals, if anything.

personal leases from most of the lease house are circa £1200 a month for a standard Eletre with no options and 15k miles a year, 4 years with 9 months up front. still too much at the moment.

Eyes firmly peeled - keen to see what happens in the next 6 months.

just thought i'd chime in.

Spent the morning at Lotus Bristol today and looked around, and test drove an Eletre S.

It was... brilliant. Its certainly a big car, inside is genuinely massive - rear leg space look liked it would give a full size Range Rover a run for its money. However it was not hard to place on the road and while it didnt 'shrink around you, it just felt like driving a big estate.

The tech (which i'm usually a fan of) appeared to be brilliant. The main screen's display graphics and resolution was fantastic with no lag - one of my main issues with modern car infotainment. The heads up display was an annoyance which im not a fan of. The lane and brake assists were not an issue as mentioned above so perhaps a firmware update has sorted this. I was told apple car play is coming in a firmware update soon, as is netflix. The car has Spotify (and i believe apple music?) which i've been used to driving a Tesla company car for the last year, so for me carplay isnt a bother either way now. The camera based side mirrors looked like a waste of time, but, there was no ugly blanking plates or odd spots in the car with traditional mirrors which was nice. Was very impressed by overall fit and finish and materials used particularly on the car with the upgraded black leather.

performance wise - the base / S was more than fast enough with 600bhp. For how big and heavy it is, it has no right to be that fast but it does and its brilliant. I'd hazard a guess the R would be complete overkill and just for bragging points, but if the wallet allows then why not.

The stock car i was interested in was Grey, 23'' diamond cut wheels, the upgraded black leather (forgot the name) with comfort seats.. and it was epic. £107k with 5k miles on it.

Sat and ran some figures and in 4 years with 12k miles a year, it had a GFV of £55k. Not actually that bad for a non mass produced EV (in the grand scheme of things) however, it threw out some pretty salty monthlies so im currently shopping around to see if i can better it. So far Lotus' own finance (through Apollo) is by far the best.

lastly and my biggest issue - i'm the rare breed purchasing as a private buyer as opposed to putting it through a business. No vat claimbacks, no incentives - i dont see how anyone is making these purchases privately really.

On a side note - if anyone is interested in an Eletre and local to Bristol, a highly recommend seeing Ashley or Jon. Both fantastic guys. Jon gave me all the time in the world and left the pressure tactics out.
