The problem with the 'leather-free' interior, is even when selected, the acres of cheap feeling plastic on the standard dash, tunnel, doors etc, still don't get covered.
Agree. And the price of covering these bits in anything decent is HUGE.

I'm considering a used Taycan Cross Tourismo (estate) in 4S or Turbo as they seem to be a lot of car for the money.

The 4Ss look like they are hovering around £70k mark.

However with all the chat about the huge depreciation, a new model etc are they actually selling for £70k or are they actually going for under?
Just not sure if i should wade in with a low offer, or if the list price is considered low already.

Anyone else doing the same?

Deal is done. I would have preferred Alcantara but there was always going to be a compromise when buying used and only liking two colours. I've paid less that £90k and am happy.
Wow you paid under £90k and its listed at £104k?!

As previously mentioned, I'm looking at minimum of 6 years and 100k miles hopefully, so not really relevant to me.

The only way to tell for sure is to watch the approved used site like a hawk for a few months. You can "save" cars to watch, keep a note on prices and see what happens.

Looks like 10% off sticker prices is achievable if you strike at the right time - when a car's been on for a while and the dealers have chipped away at prices, and if you're prepared to compromise on spec.

I wasn't looking at 4S CTs when I bought, so not sure what the typical time advertised is. I'd expect cars around the 70k mark to move more quickly tbh - this is the bottom end of that particular market.

As regards a low ball offer, all you can do is ask. And you can always offer more later if you feel the need smile

Excellent!

You can now be accused of being a tree hugging EVangelist like a few of us - it adds to the fun biggrin

So what's the actual reason(s) for plummeting values? It can't be because the car is a heap of crap because it isn't, I drove a Taycan GTS ST the other day and thought it was fantastic.

Is it charging infrastructure? Range? Or the burning thought that you're carrying around a £30k time bomb in the form of a battery pack?

Because they were highly overpriced from the start. It didn't seem to affect sales initially because of the bloated tax incentives for the first buyers but now the open market is deciding their true value

New sales were driven by tax incentives so prices artificially high. New Taycan due out on the next few months seems like it is 30 to 50% “better” when you look at range etc.

Cost to run (insurance) is another issue.

When was the last time an ICE car did something 30% better than its predecessor ? EV’s residuals will not be anything like what we’re used to. The speed of development and thus redundancy will see to that.

I see, thanks both.
That's a shame. I fancy a look at the Macan EV when it breaks cover soon, and the Q6 e-tron in a couple of weeks.
And maybe eventually the Cayenne E when it shows next year.
Might need some buyer incentives putting on the table first though.

Which over time will reduce substantially.

One of my clients is an OEM EV manufacturer, you see quite a few of their vehicles in London wink

The cost of batteries to OEM is nothing like what the bds are charging retail.
