Thanks for the thoughts. We've put a deposit down! Let's see how we get on.

I will have to stick to using my own car for my acceleration needs...

erb weight is a relatively light 1,176kg, much lighter than the competition. My Logan is a similar size and has the 90bhp 0.9 turbo, it is surprisingly sprightly. It will be interesting to see what the final spec of the hybrid is. The newer Dacias are much more modern and in-line with Renault models, rather than just recycling old tech they are being developed alongside. The CMF-B is a much newer platform than that used on the Duster and old Sandero/Logan and shares much with current Renault/Nissan models
7 seater is 1261KG with max payload of 601KG for total of 1862KG
Its still lighter and cheaper than the competition.

did you go for the orange? I'm sure you will find it more sprightly than you think

Is sprightly a good thing? That's colour she wants. Id have gone for the gunmetal colour personally...

I'd say sprightly is a good thing, not sure i would wand a sluggish car, I think the orange is a great choice too

I’ve pre-ordered a Jogger Essential to replace the E500 - large boot, petrol engine and very few creature comforts. It has what I like and none of the jazzy bits which I don’t need.

The one I have is white with wheel trims and I’m looking forward to getting it. It will make a big change from the 5.0 V8 because it will work, and I won’t be hurling money at it for every metre it travels.

I have no idea when it will be mine but it can’t really come soon enough.

Facetiousness will get you nowhere, sir!

It might qualify for entry into the “Most absurd car swap” awards though.

Very happy with my brand new auto Duster, which I bought as a result of reading this thread. Never even considered the brand before.

On the face of it, Dacia's look decent value, however, I would be very concerned about residual values at two or three years old.

This is a very important consideration when buying any new car with your own cash.
I bought my Duster new exactly a year ago for £10500. Currently valued on WBAC and offered as a px on an Alfa, £11500!

That's with 8000 miles on it.

First car that I've ever bought that has made money.

We've ordered one of these to replace our ageing 175000 mile Picasso. I will keep it next to my tesla so that I can have two cars that most on here would never want to have. Apparently...

Putting aside the fact that the residuals are really rather good.

When you're going from such a low base the monetary amount is much less anyway. Maybe it's 2k a year if you kept it 5 years, that doesn't sound too bad at all for a brand new car.

Edit. I see I'm a bit behind the curve on this one. Nice car, same colour as the one I've ordered.

They're like Berlingos et al. Bought by the parsimonious with a view for the long term, so few turn up at less than 5 years old.
I think that'll change this year.

Almost everyone with a Duster less than 3 years old has been offered a new one with zero cost to change.

You might as well so I expect to see if not a glut of nearly new cars certainly a lot more than there has historically been.

I bought a Xsara Picasso for 1500 from a main dealer and the next weekend drove it across 3 countries. I forgot to buy overseas Breakdown cover. In part because i didn't feel any need I guess.

Really regret selling that car. Ugly as hell. Super practical.

Except replacing wife’s 2014 Kuga.
Paid 14k for the Kuga 4 years ago. WBAC 10.5k now.

The Renault group must have been unable to believe their luck when Stellantis announced last week the Berlingo and partner were going EV only...

What a great idea this car is, especially the phone holder for infotainment, the amount of high end cars I see with the owner navigating from a phone in a holder is incredible, when you think how much OEMs spend on the units
