Took me a while to find this thread again, apparently there is a separate rallying section of PH now and its there instead of general motorsport... when did that happen?

I'll have to get in the habit of clicking through to the rallying subforum then!

Good start to the Irish Championship in Galway this weekend , Meirion Evans(son of Melvyn) takes the overall in his Polo , while the other Meirion Evans wins the Historics in his RS1800 . Hope the former can keep the momentum going .

Details released today for the Roger Albert Clark Rally , 340 stage miles starting in South Wales and the last day in Kielder before the finish in Carlisle . What I found shocking was the 5K entry fee , take in a car refresh , tyres , fuel, service crew , hotels etc etc what is the budget before turning a wheel in anger ? Crazy money IMHO

Proper old school rallying....and no longer struggles for entries. And being every other year people can pay the fee for a special event. Probably also why it doesn't attract the big names like other historic events do. It's a proper event, and not a show event.

I do so wish they would be less staid and have a Sunday run for other invitation stuff! Be great to see some names in old GpB or GpA cars at say Weston, Blenheim or the like, get some old RAC feel back.

I know it is a pain on top of everything else, but would be great surely

But its 5 days and 320 miles. Don't look up how much it was to do Wales rally GB which was about 190 miles and only 3 days.

Its not an event you do every year, Some people are now building cars just for it, The money is about.

I see the TER series is spreading its wings beyond Europe and including Otago as a TER round this season too (some Paddon influence there I expect).

Will be interesting to see if that brings more European entries, it normally gets plenty of international entries for the classics but not so much the modern classes.

Shame it's not in Yorkshire.

Yes. It's been like that for a while; the FC in Yorkshire only allow a certain number of events.....

Bl00dy hell people - half way through the first full day of Rally Sweden and not a post to be seen yet!

Great start for my boy Tanak, taking full advantage of a good road position for the first stage of the day. Hope the rally proves more exciting than the Monte...

Gowan the Breen!!

I missed todays action but God I hope he does it. Great way to shut his doubters up, a tarmac specialist leading a snow rally, beating the guys who grew up on it! Especially if he beats the man that replaced him on Breens debut in the car.

Yes he has great road position but given some treated Loubet and Lappi as the second coming for doing decently last year with good road position I can do the same for him!

Only 30 odd seconds separates the top 6 to it's anyones game really, currently Breen leading followed by Tanak, Lappi, Evans, Rovanpera and Neuville.

Tyre delamination's causing havoc.

Lappi had one and it put him into a bank, no damage but lost 7 minutes, Neuville has moved into third about 20 seconds off first.

Breen had one and it really damaged his left front wing and the splitter so he hemorrhaged time to Tanak who in turn had a delamination as well. However Tanaks happen very close to the end of the stage and did no damage so now leads the rally by 8.7.

Really, really hope Breen can go after Tanak tomorrow, he's got the pace to do it, 60 KM left!

One stage to go! Have to say it's been a cracking contest so far. I am a big fan of Rally Sweden and it hasn't disappointed.

Sorry Breen fans, but c'mon Ott, let's finish it off. Big big result that would be for the health of the championship.

Hyundai has made the decision to cancel that option.

Only the 2nd round of the season and Hyundai are already implementing team orders......Disappointing for Craig, but he would have known when re-signing for them that this is Thierry's team; everyone else is his 'serf'.

Ah well, the team orders backfired, as Thierry went off and lost a bit of time, and ended 3rd. A good 2nd for Craig, and Ott gets his first win of the season, and now leads the WRC......

Onto the next round, and the dry, dusty gravel of Mexico; running first won't be fun.
