Evening all. Not a corner of PH I usually inhabit but wondering if any one has any pointers? As the title suggests, I'm looking for a UK producer who makes kits for these? 550 spyder and 356 speedsters have never quite done it for me but the 917 ticks every box. I've been mulling them over for years and now have a garage available to rent and fancy a bit of a (first) but hopefully less difficult project.

Thanks in advance guys!

Don't think anyone is doing the ex GP RSK/718 in kit form anymore. I know someone doing RS60 replicas with alloy bodies and spaceframe chassis's but as complete cars only far as I know

Very good starter kit to build, not too difficult for a beginner and very rewarding to drive, upgrades to engine BHP is very easy mainly all bolt-ons, beware of the IVA inspection reg's this kit was designed in the the 80's, you may have problems -I did !!

Are they still offered? Yep, a total amateur but brother is a mechanical engineer and builds/ designs bikes so help would be at hand if needed.

First problem it has to be built on a series one VW beatle chassis, where would you get a decent one today ? Then the chassis has to be shortened 10 inches in length, going to need a welder !! the rest is easy.

Recognise that as it was constructed by a friend of mine, the alloy shell built via a 3D scan of a genuine RS61.

Currently up for sale with these folk

Pie Valley do a chassis for Beetle based kits using MG TF mechanicals.

It can be made at various lengths.

There's a big article on it in the new CKC.
