The other thing to remember is the A6 version of this engine runs 190 ish BHP as standard. The S4 is 265 and the RS4 is 380. You can get your A6 version upto 320 with a remap but after that you'll need to start changing turbos (K04), intercoolers, injectors and fuel pump. With the right map it will then be in the 420-440 region. The engine will go beyound that (there are 2.7 V6s running over 800BHP) but it gets very expensive.
its already running 290-300hp. and iirc the A6 version runs 230hp std, my a6 2.8 petrol non turbo runs 193 std so id be amazed if a twin turbo 2.7 runs 190 std

i have an idea to put an audi 2.7 biturbo engine in a kit car - possibly a seven type car, i know the chassis would need modifying by the factory possibly but are there any that would physically take the size, im sure its no bigger than some v8's in dax rushes.

i know ill need to have a custom bellhousing fabricated as the std 6 speed gearbox is part of a 4wd setup.

im asking as i have the engine in an a6 im breaking and would lov to build a car and thought why not
I’m working on that very same idea. I have a running prototype, but my car is mid-mounted, with doors, roof, weather protection etc. Build cost under £20K.

The early 2.7T engine produce’s 230bhp, the later one 250bhp; in stock form that is. Should be ready for reveal early next year. wink

What are you thinking of? I'm still undecided and need to order the chassis in December so need to make my mind upconfused the worst bit is I prob won't need the engine for about five years but need to choose now. I'm stuck between going original with a SBF 302 or doing the opposite and chucking a Coyote in it either way mated to a modified Un1-13, cost wise not much in it if importing the Coyote or getting the 302 built here.

I think he has been doing that for about 5 years now?? I know he brings other
projects to Zolder, which take his time
up but why has it taken so long? I would
imagine it is therest of the car rather
than the engine installation?? I couldn't
get 170bhp to handle properly in a Libra let alone double that :-)

Wouldnt the V6 TT engine be a bit heavy? Why not use the compact V8 from newer RS4s? its very short and pretty compact from what i have seen. Also you dont need to worry about intercooelrs or turbos. I think there are a few ECUs being developed to run the Direct injections also . Alternatively you can plug the injetor holes and run a conventional aftermarket ECU.

My experience is with a 450BHP B5 S4 and a 550BHP B5 RS4 so apologies for not getting the stock power right for the A6 C5

not sure what the posting rules are here but to answer o/p's question we are currently developing a mid engine sports car and have used the audi v6 as the standard engine with many other donor parts from the A4.
the chassis is made and so is prototype bodywork,(although this needs some minor alterations prior to production moulds being pulled)
we have used the 2.6 engine which if i am correctly informed is approx 170 bhp in standard guise and respond really well to tuning,

you must know more than me as you are designig a car, but surely a heavy v6 thats only putting out 170hp seems strange, surely a lightweight 4 pot would be better for that sort of power of the engine i was thinking of which is way over 200 and very tunable to much more

went the v6 route as there are loads of donor vehicles fetching very little money, very torquey and tuneable, and when the prototype is finished my other half is going to use it so 170 standard is fine by me, it also gives an accurate build cost at the cheaper end of the market,
the car is also only mx5/mgf sized, so should be quite driveable in mid mounted guise
also with the size of the engine bay and the way we have designed the cradle for the engine the v8 will also fit nicely. (mine after hers maybe)(as a demo car of course, lol)

Hi Jason,

It's a shame you weren't able to take us up on our invite to join us at Castle Combe last Friday (ref PM). However, I have posted a couple of videos up on YouTube to give an idea of what it was like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLUrC1I59rQ&fea...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziO42CAtCIE&fea...

We've driven the Deronda on some fast, but mainly flat, circuits such as Silverstone and Bruntingthorpe and it has always shown itself to be immensely capable. Taking the Deronda to Castle Combe, with the rise up to Quarry and bumps everywhere, just added another dimension and showed us once again what just how brilliant it really is.

Regards,
Alistair
