It will be mid engined. The engine is too far fowards to make the front engined setup pretty! Timescale wise it's hard to say with prototypes, a few weeks before it is up and running

Yes basically that's the plan! We have worked out a 4wd way of doing it too , but too expensive for now...

A few more questions from myself, this will be the last lot i promise smile

What parts of the scooby will the new one use? Obviously the engine and gear box but will it be using the suspension arms etc as well or will they be incooperated into the kit?

Any idea on pricing yet?

And finally....how do think it will do come IVA time? As there will be a lot of exposed parts will there be any sort of panels on it to cover them to get around the sharp edges criteria?

The more i think about it the more i can see one of these being my next project, im even scouring the classified for scoobies as we speak! smile
The engine, box, driveshafts, front hub assemblies will be used, running adjustable wishbones as part of the kit Also the front hubs. Not sure yet but hope to use the steering rack/column also if we can make it work. The handbrake etc will be reusable in the car of you want. The suspension will be available in two versions, conventional wishbones with outboard spring/damper units, or pushrod and inboard units. There will be a panel kit available but it will sit "inside" the tubes so you still have the skeletal shape
Pricing wise, I am hoping to do base version around £1600 a more comprehensive version for 2600, including dampers, etc, and I am keen to do a rolling chassis version too where customers can either supply donor or donor parts.

sounds like a plan. Boxter stuff is beginning to find it's way into kits now, they seem a logical choice with the low prices they are commanding these days

Yes it has been a bit of a nightmare, HUGE problems with the old criminal landlord, lots of police involvement to get our stuff out safe etc etc, but all done now!
Yes we plan to have the kits pretty much complete except for seats, wheels etc, and an option to buy those through us too. Some people enjoy the hunt for bits and bobs to finish a build, others just want it done in a quick, simple manner without having to work out what is compatible. Horses for courses I guess.
Right now we are finishing off things like fitting the lifts, and fulfilling back orders we got behind on, but we have a couple of corners of the workshop where development continues ;-)

I did reply to your mail chap. Let me know exactly what you want and for what, and max dimensions and I am sure we can build something you can use within your charity ;-) I have the lads just working away on the jaguar based version at the mo. I drive a tuned supercharged XJR as a daily, and am a fan of the jag drivetrain. Lots of horsepower and performance figures get talked about with various cars. Jaguar perform well with massively heavy cars. Prototype is so far 600kgs with straight 6 engine and all single donor so a fast cheap build once we iron out the wrinkles. Any jaf from the XJ40 up to all the x300 and X308 are suitable donors. Power from 211 hp to 375 in standard tune... in 600kgs. Try finding a cheaper donor with the spec of the parts you can harvest from a jag...

Hmmm, this is a complicated story, and not one I really wish to air on here.
The background of it being the huge legal problems we had this year with a criminal landlord which basically put us out of business and left us with a three month battle to get our own stuff and customer cars away from him. This is why we also got behind on the prototypes.
We ceased trading completely for a while, and started back up recently. We had three outstanding orders, Paul's being one of them. The other two have been fulfilled and his is almost done, in fact it is sat on the jig now with a small amount of welding to do. When I last spoke to him I explained much of our predicament, and he seemed happy to wait as did the others.
Then he started posting directly to our charity pages, which had dire consequences for us. On the strength of his remarks we have lost a funding stream we were due to start with this year.
The guy has waited a long time, which is not good for him and unfortunate, but I thought he was fine with that.
Over xmas I got a letter from him asking for his frame or his money, to which I have replied in kind.
During the chaos of this year, and many of you will have met us at shows or know about what we do through others, we kept the charity going as we had committed to it with other military charities at the beginning of the year.
We dont raise money for ourselves. we dont take donations, how we work is we give a rail away to charities, then they raffle them. We enable this by attending all the events we can at the shows and promoting for them. The last rail was won at the NEC classic Motor show in November.
This took up all of our time and energy, and I had pointed that out to customers who all seemed happy to wait given the circumstances
This years giveaway is a v8 disco based behemouth, but we have learned the lessons of last year and we are leaving the promotion of it to the recipients, Rally For Heroes so we can concentrate on the work/therapy side of things at the shack.
It has been a very bad year, and those of you who know us will know just how bad, but we are still here plugging away.
Paul, I can only apologise. I become uncommunicative when things get confrontational, I am not well enough, and I misjudged your level of patience. But please stop posting things as you are doing huge damage.
I dont think you have paid for shipping your frame, so I will do so free of charge. I hope that can be an end to it and we can start the new year afresh

Dont be too hard on him. Life is too short, and he has been waiting a while. I should have found a way somehow to get it done quicker. Suffice to say I have learned frok the experiences of last year.

I will keep you posted on the scooby one ;-) Just clearing the backlog of the other stuff and doing some charity stuff over next two weekends. And thanks to Paul for the call and the apology, it really wasn't needed but very much appreciated.
As we become more organised over the next few weeks we will get more stuff posted up. The next two weekends are taken up with the Rally for heroes stuff, donor strip by volunteers this Sunday, and next weekend a training session for the participants, a ceremonial beginning of the bending, the lads and lasses will each have a go at pushing the button on the bending machine! And we have the family who won last years rail raffle prize (in aid or the royal navy and royal marines children's fund) coming by too for fitting of seats etc, so a busy time ;-)
Raffle tickets are available from rally for heroes by the way guys ;-) (Prize is a V8 disco based road legal rail)
