JAG STRAIGHT 6 in a kit car?
Discussion
This one has been supplied to go in a MEV Replicar. It is a 2.4 but no other details were given.
I am not a Jag expert, can anyone suggest the the best value donor to get one of these from with a manual box please? B.H.P and age ID would be helpful as it appears to be short of a few items.
It looks like C18580 on the block.

My mum's husband has this week sold him mint 2.4 MKII Jag, even he said the engine is pretty feeble! Is it being tuned Stuart? I can think of better powerplants, can he not fit a 3.4 or 3.8 version? Or a Zephyr straight 6 from an old dying Scimitar?
I may be wrong but I thought the Scimitar was fitted with an Essex engine which is a V6?Or if you want a small capacity straight six then there are plenty of BMW or the lexus IS220 ? I know it's not in the spirit of the law but I'd build it with a pre '95 mx5 donor, get it registered and then swap the engine out for an IS200 1GFE running six bike carbs and a megajolt. Period look and sound with modern power and reliability with a free 6 speed longitudinal box.
Sorry, does not help you find one of these but enjoyed thinking up the options.
For info wiki says the 2.4 jag engine makes between 112 and 133 HP, just don't show it a rice pudding with a skin on it.

That engine will suit the engine bay to a tee. It is heavy but the sound of the car will be spot on as will the look when the bonnet is opened.
Bill Monks used to make a full size replica of the Aston but he used a straight six Vauxhall. As for what they come out of MkII jag, XJ but had wrong rockers for the effect. Most Auto's but you could use any big 5speed onto that engine

Many thanks for the replies. I spoke to the customer who says he is going to have the engine re built after we have used it to configure the mounts etc. He said he thinks all the bores are the same and is going to look for a different crank to increase stroke/capacity.
The real reason for using this motor is that it is so similar in appearance to the one used by Aston Martin in their DBR1's of the 50's. It will sound awesome. We are going to get it as far back in the chassis as possible by altering the design as this is a heavy lump.

I would have thought the Roger Williams at Suffolk Jaguar would know a good deal about the engine.
Realm engnieering who do the c and D type replicas may also be a good source of info, they may also sort out any geabox issues.
