Hi. I would like to build a Series 1 look Seven & am considering kick starting the project by buying in a chassis.
So who's chassis is most like an S1 dimensionally ?

Caterham's are small
Ron Champion book chassis
Modified Chris Gibbs Haynes Roadster

As I understand it the Caterham S3 exterior dimensions are the same as the Lotus Seven.
The extra space in later cars was found by moving chassis tubes within the car, with the SV model they finally enlarged the Seven to create even more space.

Apart from different wings and nose, the main difference is the width of the rear track.

All Pre 2006 Caterhams which are not the SV or CVSR model are the same external dimensions as a Lotus 7 S3. On "short cockpit" cars before 1991 which have a live axle (Ford or Ital) they are identical.
