Mid life crisis time and have the perfect donor car, low mileage mechanically perfect 4.0 xj40 with 5 speed getrag, plus loads of xjs bits acquired over the years but cant find a C / D type replica kit that is set up to accept that layout. The exhaust is on the 'wrong ' side from the XK's and engine is tilted but surely not the end of the world? Think perhaps kit manufacturers are missing something here as the aj6 is bullet proof, has a very simple stand alone fuel injection system and is readily available for next to nothing!
I believe that one was made a few years back(Ron Lea) with a supercharged lump otherwise cant find any info, anybody help? Thanks

Have you looked at the MEV Replicar as an alternative, Aston dbr1 inspired, not a true replica but nonetheless quite a pretty car. I think someone has already put a jag straight 6 in one albeit the earlier engine I think. Give the a call and have a chat to Stuart mills he may even have an idea how to use the jag back End in stead of the mx5 running gear.

As for the c type there are not many replicas about but have a chat to those that are as they may be open to some bespoke work at a price.

List of current manufacturers here http://www.totalkitcar.com/uk/uk-x-ref/

Another alternative is a ac 289 style cobra replica, the straight six giving a nod to the ac ace predecessor. Have a look at Hawk, they do a jag based kit that may be able to be modified to fit the engine.

Got to admit that typically people finda kit they like and then source the donor car to suit rather than the other way around.

Good look in the search.
