in theory if you can separate the engine and gearbox it should be possible to get them out.mine being a v6 is just about impossible.if you have the room/manpower body off is easiest,gives you a chance to check fuel and brake lines,suspension etc,all the inaccessible stuff.my top rear wishbones were bent where the round tube was welded to the oval and needed repair.

It will probably be easier to split the engine / box and remove the engine, i had to do this when my engine needed major repair, my car has the ford pinto engine so access wasn't too bad,

I would tend to agree with hal; removing the body would be so much extra work with everything that is attached to the body. Removing the bonnet would obviously help.
Sorry - probably a bit late in the day; may be the job is all done by now.

I'll be there but unlikely to be on the Pilgrim stand as I'm in the Wessex Kit Car Club - stand nr 33E.
