Stunning. Clearly lots of thought into the areas often skipped over when building a kit. Would be interested to hear more about the android tablet/single din install, as the ecu I have my eye on has some very cool android app functionality.

Assume you're in the States? Not sure anyone has got one through the UK IVA yet.

Yeah, in the US. Hundreds of them here.

The tablet just feeds an aux-in on the hidden radio. The steering wheel controls (on the right of the wheel) select the audio source (AM, FM, USB, or tablet) and control the volume. To make all that work, I interfaced the modified Corvette wheel to the Cadillac XLR column, then went to a steering wheel adapter which was compatible with the 1-DIN radio. The amp is fed from low-level outputs on the radio.

The tablet has the usual music playing ability (from an internal SD card or from streaming sources like Pandora), as well as navigation, internet (the tablet has a SIM card for data, as well as telephone calls), and the usual Android apps like Torque and Dash Command (both of which connect to the engine ECU via a bluetooth connection on the OBD2 port). Several specialty apps for other purposes, including Tasker to manage startup and shutdown. All the audio from all sources comes from the tablet to the radio, and out through the external amp to the speakers, so nav instructions are easy to hear even at (ahem) full throttle. The tablet can also connect to the car's internal wifi network to control the car functions as well. There's a webserver in the car that delivers HTML to any browser connected to it via wifi (after security is met, of course). Some of the functions available from the webserver are opening and closing of the doors, lights, alarm and security functions, etc.

There is a separate touchscreen monitor that is electrically controlled and drops down from the roof panel that is connected to the rear view camera in the sharkfin, or, on selection, to a backup cam mounted on the top of the diffuser. The backup camera is powered when in reverse, and remains powered for 2 minutes after any power-on event so when moving forward and backward in a tight spot, the camera is always available.

Thanks GTRene and Sway. I really like the car, and had a great time building it, with the help of several friends. Of course, these things are never really "done", and I have a long list for phase 2 and 3!
