It looked like a small version of a Humvee, very small that is. I guess it was a kit of some kind as it was on an "L" plate? It was painted a kind of military camouflage colour. Just wondering.

"L" plate? "Q" would be a kit car.

Could have been one of those Japanese miniture replica thingies (sorry name escapes me)

EDIT - Kei Cars?

Yep, probably a Storm Warrior, although it was a "fast-back".
And "L" reg, yes. built on a Disco chassis so body swap, keep the same plate.

Kit car can have 3 types of registration
Q donor parts from many vehicles
Age related (for instance L) based on the age of a single donor vehicle but not the registration of the donor
New reg, all new parts used to build kit car, ( 1 major part can be reconditioned)

I built a kit car - it didn't have a Q plate.
Q plates often indicate a kit car, but by no means always.
Not all kit cars have Q plates, lots of them don't and they are legal.

Sorry Paul, my post comes across as a bit "grumpy", but I was just wondering why it had to be a kit as it was on an L reg plate.

I've had a few kits over the years, including VOR 41T (anyone know where that is now?) and my present one on an H plate.

Meanwhile, MEV? Mills Extreme Vehicles or My Electric Vehicle. The same company or a future court case?

I can only admire the energy and drive that Stuart Mills evidences in his prodigious output of kit cars. He is a very canny man and from what I can see of this project this is as I would expect a genuine licensed production with full GM backing. Absolutely unique I would think. The output of the man is quite exceptional, and also a most approachable and likeable individvidual. Yet to see one of these personally but when I get back to the UK I will rectify this omission.

I wish it was. It was parked up today and I drove past slowly, bloody awful. Beatle based judging from the rusty exhaust hanging out the back. I think it would be difficult to build something as bad no matter how hard you tried.

Funny that, the two kit cars that I have built SVA'd and registered weren't Q plate either, (they were age related).

And my mistake, it was "F" reg. Not "L".
