Surely the truth of the matter is that 0 to 60 has been around for decades, in fact from a time when some cars could barely do more than 60!

So therefore now cars are MUCH faster, isnt 0 to 100(mph) simply the new 0 to 60?

Even the standing 1/4 mile will no doubt one day be replaced by the standing 1/2 km!! rolleyes

God help us all. I am still getting used to petrol prices in pence per litre for pities sakes! mad

I thought I'd already covered that Adrian.
I think there's a difference between a bit of rounding up/down and even exaggerating (both something even mainstream manufacturers engage in) and simply making up numbers which it would appear is going on in the car from the first post.

Steve, in the spirit of "new fangled stuff" I guess you're going to post your RR results in kw and Nm?

I have no doubt that hammering 0-60 is exciting, but this surely should be reserved for the track. I'm often asked "is it fast" and "what's its 0-60".

The hammering that TYRES, clutch, gearbox, diff and shafts take always makes me wince a little when on public roads.

My 0-60? Probably around 12-15 seconds. My top speed- probably around 85mph. Speedo said 80 once, I was stting my pants. I still have fun though - that's the point of kits right?

Seems like people haven't worked out how to calculate 0-60 times. Please let me enlighten you.
Look at your vehicles, weight, power, torque and drivetrain. Check out the back of Eva Magazine for similar weight cars and drivetrain. Then scroll down the Power and torque readings until you get to the most similar.
Check for actual cars times.
Then adjust your 0-60 time downwards until it reflects your cars real potential, because lets face it, you are a Better drover than theses namby pamby journo's.
Hey presto.... your car is Da Business Man
This is the way I have always done my time.
1. I don't trash my drivetrain
2. Its only pub banter anyway so know one is going to know

In case you misunderstood my meaning, definitely not! I am NOT in favour of the new fangled measurements. Give me mph, mpg, lbs/ft and bhp any day. I am 55 years of age btw, I still remember there being 240 pence to the £1!!!!!

Indeed it is, indeed it is. If you look up 'fun' in the dictionary, you'll see a little kit car picture next to it. Easy to forget it sometimes though. Nice one Slomax beer

I can confirm slomax's car does 0-smile very quickly... and you don't even have to be in it; just following and watching is enough.

Body rooolll!

You know you're pushing your luck when you lift one of the fronts! hehe

It is pretty hilarious, both to drive and spectate. 3 of my friends now refuse to go in it if I'm driving because its (and I quote) "fking terrifying". You just have to trust it and hold on!

There are a few vids on youtube. I need to get another one up now that I've moved to Devon. The roads down here are great!

You're not having fun until at least one wheel is dangling in the air.

Personally I still find 0-60 as useful a metric as the 50-80 or more that some prefer these days - the 0-60 gives a good indication of both power and the amount of traction available, it's still relevant as a performance figure.

Don't forget that some people have a one wheel disadvantage!

...and the two still on the ground (combined) are narrower than one on most cars.

Less rolling resistance - means you can go faster!

125s - nothing but the best!

It's lb-ft for torque measurements, ft-lb is a unit of energy (one pound hoisted one foot).

Exactly, not the same at all!
