Then production cars have moved on massively in the few years since I last looked at this.

There is a cavern between traction control systems on production cars and some aftermarket stuff.

As an example, my M5 with 1900kgs and 500bhp was almost seamless with its traction control, wheelspin did occur, but it was always accelerating thus is was controlled faultlessly and extremely fast and you never notice that power is being cut at all or that there is any intervention at all, you keep foot planted to the floor and it buggers off even from stationary... Ive turned it off and can confirm there is actually a lot of intervention.
I might be able to match its acceleration but I don't think I could improve on it.

On the other hand my new JCW mini has 215bhp and is a lot newer so software, wheel braking etc etc and is loads lighter so should be better, yet it wheelspins and then the TC comes in big time and you can feel massive cuts in power removing wheelspin completely.. feels rubbish and very slow to me.... I can easily improve on this by turning it off and balancing the wheelspin on the throttle.... same was true on the ST220 mondeo I sold few months back were I could easily beat the TC acceleration by switching it off.

However none of these TC systems come close the the launch my noble can do with the Motec Launch control... I have no chance of matching the Nobles launch control.
