Interesting option
Made from replica panels?
Jigged?
Or just welded together
Would a rust free car from foreign lands be a better option and be easier to register.

If you mean will it require an IVA then Yes.
It would also be a Q plate when completed.

You will also have to work quite hard to eliminate sharp edges as I suspect there will be many. Just because it looks like a production car will not help it.
Also look closely at the lighting regs as it will require side repeaters, rear fog, reverse light all of which would not have been on the original car.

Could it be used to reshell an old rusty MkII Escort in the same way a heritage MG shell can be used for an old MG. Unless the rules have changed you just transfer the chassis plate over and no IVA required.

Even if the shell didn't come from the original manufacturer or have proof that it conforms to original spec. ?

The Heritage MG shell will be recognised by DVLA as a valid replacement shell in the same way that a couple of companies are recognised for supply of Land Rover replacement chassis.

This one which seems to have been created from aftermarket repair panels will not.
