i bought this kit car over a year ago, advertised as a ex 750mc race car that had been stripped and cleaned but the owner ran ran out of time and patience, to cut a long story short i have managed to get the thing running and pretty much complete but everybody that i speak to who sells body parts for the kit cars is saying "its not the type that they do"

So, what i need to do is identify what kind of body kit this is and then identify if its available or not. if its not available then the next question is would any other body kit fit i.s is th chassis the same for all of these kit cars?

any help would really be appreciated

Research them all from Westfield ,caterham M.K, MAC1, Robin hood etc they are all very similar in size and can be adapted /reworked to fit

If you're feeling adventurous mould your own; a couple of templates front and rear, a sheet of 2mm ply, edge battens, wax and some grp.

Either you're confusing cm for inches or that's a fking big 'Seven' you've got yourself, there. wink

I agree with Greig that it looks quite like an MK (obviously not an Indy - it's live axle from the trailing arms?), but reading those dimensions as cm, they don't match the figures given on MK's website

Both the nosecone and the aeroscreen looks very like the MK's though.

A Locost? (Ron Champion's book)

If so any Locost part company could provide a bonnet. Beware however of small differences, despite all Locosts being based on "the book" the book itself contains several variations when you study the diagrams, photos and drawings carefully.

The lower front wishbones look like the "Locost" items.

flat sheet of aluminium and a 4 post lift corner post to shape it round. You might have to fabricate a rear lip for it to sit on.

I'm in the process of making a new ally bonnet for my car at the moment.
The stiffeners were formed around plywood blanks then attacked with a hole saw and a home made swage tool.
The main sheet was bent around a tapered buck made from a piece of 8" pipe.
Took it to Shapecraft in Hinckley today to have louvres put in.
I'll post a pic when I get it back.
The ally sheet cost £20.
I'm not a sheet metal worker and I've learnt the techniques as I've gone along.
So my advice is... make your own.

Why?? Got to be easier to make it from aluminium & if you cant, any sheet metal company will be able to.

Don't know if it's the same one, but someone was chasing an AGM bonnet on LCB recently, no idea if the guy managed to contact him or not, but Alan Whitehead (AGM) sold the moulds about 18 months ago to an Ian Armitage, details below, don't know if he's still producing panels tho'?

If it is indeed a STM Locost then you should approach Aries Motorsport.

I made an aluminium one from sheet for my old Robin Hood and it was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! I had no experience with panel work but being 17 and skint helped make the decision...

looks like a standard book-locost.

so any locost bonnet should fit..theoretically....depends also a bit on the noce-cone used, also the nose cone positioning.

you better ask at locostbuilders forum
