I need a new battery to fit the space under the bonnet on my 2L Zetec Fury - 200mm wide , 170mm deep , 170mm tall.

Halfords sell a Yuasa Silver 5000 battery (50ah , 480A) for about £80, thats the only one that would fit.

Online I can find items like this , up to 2.5L but only 13ah:

What sort of spec do I need for the engine and can anyone recommend a specific brand?

I have an ULTRA MAX NP20-12, 12V 20AH in my 2l blacktop Zetec in my Caterham. Always kept on a trickle charge when not in use and this one is probably getting on for 4/5 years old now.

They also do a NPG20 which is the gel version.

I have an 0637 to start my 2L Lotus. (that number is some sort of universal code I believe)

200 x 170 x 170 with round posts.

Note the Euro Car Parts sticker. I could have bought a gold, silver or bronze with a 1, 3, or 5 year guarantee. (thats the silver)

Should be plenty around of that size with a good spec - make sure the posts are the correct way round if your leads haven't any spare length!

Ducati Darmah battery is a popular choice with a Zetec install.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably go for an Odyssey, although perhaps a 545 rather than 680 as it will give me a lot more vertical clearance esp. with the vertical terminals.

I'd suggest one of these, expensive, but massive cranking power & will save you around 5kg!

Went for the Odyssey 680 in the end to get the extra reserve power.
