Love the look of one on ebay

Why you wouldn't have just fitted forged rods and pistons is beyond me..
Would be a simple enough upgrade I can do myself

Purely a toy that would get the odd local blast and the odd track day at knockhill.

Looks nice enough. The possible reason that it wasn't taken to the 280BHP with rods/pistons is that there is a lot of additional costs with the drive train/transmission which will be highly stressed at that Torque/Power levels.

You can ask on https://jpsc.org.uk/forum/ for a more detailed response from Striker owners.

Transmission is a BGH one and in a light car will be ok
I think the added expense of forged pistons and rods would add anothe £1000

It could also be that at probably 550kg and 210 bhp, it would be terrifying enough as it is without going up to 280bhp. It's already at Caterham R400 territory so not many people would see the need for spending much more to get more power.

My Dax Rush will only have around 170 - 180 bhp and will weigh more at 600kg but that will be more than enough for me.

I'd go with Jeff, 280 puts a lot of strain on a Sylva, my Phoenix runs 400+ and over the years it has eaten gear boxes, (including Gatregs), differentials (Atlas) and prop shaft Uj's, all sorts of bearings, and wide slicks have caused problems with all the knuckles on the front suspension.
All these have been engineered out but it took time.
The Toyota engine in a 7 is great I have one in a Locost, buy it as it is and upgrade it over time, when you get it you may find the last mod you will need is more power.
The first thing to do an any Sylva is a front any roll bar kit from the stylus club.
