Took the car out the other night and the rack felt better though it needs tracking up properly, engine mount made a vast improvement ... but I bust a driveshaft, luckily on my drive way so the only ballache was pushing it in the garage

The shafts are cut and welded with a sleeve, I could have just repaired the one that broke but I'll never have any confidence in them from now on, so they are coming out in favour of custom single piece shafts with the correct splines at each end - I think at the moment they are a combination of MGF/Honda shafts joined up. Crap really.

The saga continues...

Have delayed things a bit as I wanted to get the new inner CV joints before getting shafts made up as I found out the inner joints were Honda CRX and the integra ones look to be stronger. I wasn't sure if the spline was the same although it probably is so didn't wanna start getting shafts made until I've got the joints. Going away for a few days but hopefully they will be here when I return along with new outer joints and I can get the new drive shafts made up. Really wanted to take it to the Oulton park gold cup on bank holiday weekend, but st happens..

Collected the new joints from work today and measured everything up/checked everything fits the same. Then dropped my shafts off to be copied. Having new ones made from EN24 then heat treated etc as necessary. They will have MGF splines on one end and integra on the other with brand new inner and outer joints. Gonna be a couple of weeks but will be much better when they're done.

Collected and dropped off for heat treating, really pleased with them. The original ones were a bit fatter in the middle as they were sleeved so he's kinda copied it which wasn't really necessary but shouldn't matter. Must be a hell of a lot stronger than the garbage I had previous.

I think so yeah, once these are in it really needs some miles putting on it. I've not done any decent mileage in one go it's always been a quick drive and find a new problem so hopefully I'm at the point where I've ironed most of them out...!!! Does need all tracking up properly though before driving any distance.

Just been out for a little test drive and all seems OK. Didn't go far just wanted to have a little run out, spin it up a few times etc then check over on the drive again. Still needs tracking up properly but by some fluke I think I've got it near enough right, seems to track straight enough and the rack has made the steering much quicker with so much more feel, slightly heavier steering being the trade off but completely worth it.

Just need to build my confidence up now with the car and taking it on longer drives

Not really but I guess I could put some holes in the duct or something in case I get caught out

Yeah, it's pretty quick and makes a great sound. It's quite odd the way it drives, have to remind myself that it wants to rev, compared to my old K series car that was pretty much done by 6500-7000 this wants to go round to near 9k.
