hi

i'm in the process of changing out my 1600 xflow engine in my kit car to a 1.8 black top zetec
i have purchased a new bell housing for the zetec but was wondering if i needed to change the sump or if it could be modified to fit the starter motor?

also would i need to purchase a new flywheel and clutch assembly in order to complete the conversion if so what flywheel and clutch would i need to purchase?

thanks
Grant

not wanting to destroy your idea...but its always cheaper and hazzlefree buying a zetec car instead of doing a conversion.
if spannering is what you want...go for it.

Google Zetec Inside. All the info you need. I put a new Blacktop zetec in place of an old pinto. Ran it on R1 bike carbs with megajolt ecu.Totally transformed the cars drivability with lots more smooth power.

Erm - why buy a bellhousing? The crossflow one should fit. Assuming the car is in-line rather than transverse, it's generally better to get a sump designed & baffled to be used in-line, the blacktop sump can be modified but it's a lot of work. the starter will depend on which flywheel you're using. If standard, find one from a CVH engine Sierra, a lot of the lightened flywheels are based around a Pinto clutch & use the Pinto / crossflow starter.

Good luck!

I don't think that's true for kit cars that are starting with a CVH or xflow and going to a zetec... It's about as simple as it gets for an engine conversion.

Selling can be a pain
You could buy someone elses mess
It can take months (even years) to find a car you're happy with

Also a good zetec car will sell for more than an xflow/cvh... Easily enough to cover the conversion costs.

I'd agree with you if he was looking at xflow to bike engine etc.
