Afternoon all.

I'm looking for a diagnostics tool for my 56MY Vantage. I don't have anything I need to resolve at present but it's helpful to have it in the toolbox.

I've seen a number of BT/Wifi units that connect to your phone but these appear to be largely limited to viewing live data. I'd like to be able to do that, as well as scan and reset error messages etc.
I use EDIABAS for the BMWs in the family which is a great little system so something along those lines would be great.

What do you all use/recommend?

Vgate icar wifi/bluetooth unit with Dashcommand does all that for me.

Its OBD, its a standard, why not use the BMW thing you have ? or is it somehow specific or linked to a vehicle ?

I read and reset codes on the Aston with the same £30 box off ebay that I use on the Volvo....

Yep I've used this the past 5 years on both the V8 Vantages I owned.

Works perfectly to clear/reset the annoying warning errors. I just got into a habit of noting any warning / errors before clearing.

I use the Vgate icar with dashcommand app and it works fine with my Vantage.

Good display and you can view and delete error codes if needed.

I have the same. Can get them for under a tenner if you shop about. I always record what the code is (O2 sensor related) and then clear.

I did buy the U480 Scanner Car Fault Code Reader off Ebay but could not get it to work on my MY2006 Vantage car. It kept coming up with an error code not being able to 'talk' to the car. Although, I am sure there are good and possibly dodgy copies out there.

Thanks, all. That gives me plenty to work with.

I have the lead, but the software is BMW specific.

Yep I use one of these too. I also note down the errors, just in case they keep coming up. Touch wood I haven't had one for a long time.....I bet I get a O2 sensor warning now! laugh
