i think the way mainstream car mags have gone in "lifestyle reports" is lacking in KC circles. When Tom Ford tests the latest Audi estate in Top Gear mag, it's about what its like to live with, not how many torques are needed to tighten up the door hinge brackets. The test drive is a timetrial to reach a Eurostar, with commentary about the road condition, the scenery and how the car behaves. People want to know what the it sounds like at 8500rpm through a tunnel, not how to route the induction hose.

There is still room and importance of the technical articles of course, but a bit more light reading would give balance and allow you to drop in and out of the mag more easily. it would also attract a bigger virgin audience....

It is a reality that the times are changing, but perhaps the demise of KC will further secure Adam and Steve Holes magazine, both of which I have subscribed to for years.

Motoring as a hobby is not as popular as it was for certain demographics, but one look at the Classic market shows it is booming. Hot Rods and Custom cars went through the same decline in popularity when the "max power" scene grew and then died.

Through all that building a kit car has continued and many of us carry on. Good companies have adapted to changing legislation and the cars we now have are a world away from the quality that used to be common place.

We still have a vibrant scene but we need to adapt again, share platforms with Classics and controversially, perhaps have to pay entrance fees if it means that we would other wise lose every show.

It has been said that magazines are not relevant, they are but the delivery method is changing and if you ask my wife she would love that all my back copies of everything were digital as they take up room, so for her the digital delivery is good progress. Other magazines in other hobby areas have also disappeared so our hobby is not unique.

This is a great opportunity to consolidate and move forward.
