Bit tight upfront, Andy, but I like your style!!

Eh? The A-Series fitted in there easily enough for the everyday cars, so I'm sure a tiny motorcycle engine would fit!

Weren't 6r4's orginally designed for Group B ? (Like the Ford RS200 was)

Are there any kits/replicas of other GroupB & S around ?

I suspect Rene might be thinking of shaft drive, which BMW motorbikes have used instead of the usual chain.

....with bevel drive at the rear wheel.

Not a diff though.

When I said 'bit tight' I have to admit I was thinking 6R4 whereas obviously a z-Cars style front end leaves LOADS of space for doing such things!!

Mind you....

With the V64V, gearbox, step-off all out of the way I reckon both engines in the back and a prop forward to a front diff would be easy!!

Yep. That's a bevel drive I suspect, Rene, not a differential.

Still cheap compared with a V64V!!

Sounds like a superb project!

What shell did you start with? Is the running gear 6R4??

its a 1988 MG metro and was copied from a real 6r4 parked next to it it even has the
V's in the rear arches that the v6 heads would sit in its a better faster more handling car than the real thing the engine produces more power and is ultra reliable unlike the rover V6 its got better brakes the suspension is fully ajustable and use's rose joints
adjustable TCA'S it has the best of everything and will weigh less than 1000 kg i reckon
mucho sideways action i think

Havent read the whole thread, but would something like this make a good donor?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/284-mv-brat-pic

Just switch the configuration so that the rear steers.

If only I had the cash!

Probably too wide as its a flat 6, although I may be wrong.

hey i was toying wiv bilding a replica 6r4 my self but was wondering wt the best metro is to use for a base car like wt model years also ive seen 6r4 bodykits do these fit straight on to metros as 6r4 was based on the mistro along with do u think a toyota mr2 turbo engine and running gear would make a good donor car as ther easey to tune and has the mid engine layout i know it wont be 4wd but im nt tht botherd about tht

Depends how accurate a replica you want. There's really no Maestro in a 6R4, don't believe any crap you read on the Internet....
