Same topic right, cut and paste and all that.

OMG, just the thought of repping a Lambo . . . The engine IS the Lambo, what's the effing point having a lookalike with a Pontiac v6 in . . .

Those Lambo replicas are reprehensible.

The Parallel Designs ones on the other hand are sweet! (anyone about to chime in about cheap replicas can fark right off on that one. tube chassis, bmw V12, its not the real deal but its in the spirit!)

You still can't argue with the fact that the only point of having a fake FWD "Ferrari" lookalike (they can't be called "replicas" ) complete with Ferrari badges, is to pretend that you have a Ferrari...

Note that I (and most others) don't apply the same argument to "proper" replicas for example good "7" clones, good Cobra reps, etc, as they (the good ones) are engineered to replicate or improve on all aspects of the original. I doubt if anyone builds a Dax rush for example so they can pretend to have a Lotus 7...
I used to own a Ferrari 328 replica. I really wanted a real Ferrari 328. Actually, I still do. My wife won't let me have one until the mortgage is paid off, so in order to work around her rules I bought a replica. It wasn't a perfect replica, but it had the lines of the car that I loved. I used to pretend it was a real replica sometimes, depending on my mood. I got worried once when I took it in for new tyres and the fitter didn't twig. I used the car as my daily driver but sold it after 6 months. It was utterly slow, which was annoying and embarassing in equal measures! It was also expensive to run. I did about 12-14k miles in it and came out of the ownership over £4000 worse off. That didn't make my wife too happy. Her own fault though, really! Not sure where I'm going with this. I'm considering another kit car now, but will most likely be looking at either a 7esque, Cobra replica or a GT (possibly an Ultima). I'm at the buying a magazine and dreaming stage now. I'll make a decision over the summer, I suspect.

Cheers,
Andy

Now which looser wanna drive around in fake Ferrari.

Using a Ferarri is 90% driving pleasure and 10% looks.

There are still some idoits who dont realize this and buy these kits. -------------- Herd they sell new lives in kit form, better buy one of that before the car itself.

Cant imagine these loosers build and sell them in Britain. I swear we will never allow this kind of st on to Dubai soils ever.

Wow what an incredibly ill informed and retarded first post, congratulations!

I think it'd be huge fun to drive around in a Lamborghini Fiero. Especially in Dubai: valet-parking please . . .

But of course, to build kit cars in dubai you would have to divert valuable time from LHD conversions on stolen high end cars from europe and japan...

Personally, I can see the point of replica kit cars. Some shapes are simply gorgeous, desirable and yet out of reach.

It's OK to build something that has the aesthetics of a Ferrari if that's what you like but, putting Ferrari badges on it is a step too far and is simply a pretence to you own something, when you really don't. The badges are there to fool others only and that I find a bit sad.

When taken to this level of fakery, they are comparable to a cheap, fake watch in my view. It may look the part but it rarely peforms as well as the real thing. Accept that you have built something beautiful but also accept that it is not a Ferrari.

I've built a kit car but, I went for performance over looks (though it doesn't look half bad from most angles IMHO). £13k got me more useable performance than a genuine Ferrari 360 too.

Lol, I have a 360 replica, they are hard to build but do turn heads if done right, a lot of you are saying why build a fake one out of a 406 ? Well a REAL one cost over 100k, Who here has that sort of money ?
Second, alot of you (and other's on youtube and so) are saying what about when you start it up, people will know its not a ferrari, Well, here's how to make it sound as ferrari as it could ever be,

Get a toyota MR2 engine (preferably a 2.0 litre with the wiring harness and electrical units) and mount it in the rear of the 406 then get a full decat racing exhaust ( I made mine myself ) and bolt it on, Remap the ECU and add piper/kent cam's (get them put in by an expert), Then start it up, garanteed no one will notice the diffrence and the amount ive payed total so far is about 17k, Loads lower than what an original cost's,

I also have very very cheap insurance, And I can also fly past all the boy racer's with there tricked out civic's and there MR2's , I do thrash the car BUT thats why i built it, to thrash it, I even raced another original 360 the other day, I keeped up but he was slowly pulling away, And no one NO ONE!!! has the exacted same car as me, Which is another thing a like about it, Its fully customisable to your satisfaction,

£17k could buy you a decent sports car in its own right, which would have similar performance to the 360.

A 360 now does not cost anywhere near £100k.

Fakester,

Around here, London, SW3, it's 90% looks and 10% driving pleasure (traffic jams) - that is until a teenage arab kid comes along with his dad's money's Veyron.

Al's seen them from my Saturday morning vantage point at Pret's in the Brompton Road.

Wow! you put an MR2 engine in the back of a 406??? I'd like to see that!

Did you leave the original engine in the front as well?
