Alfa-engined kit cars -

The Minari I'm aware of, but are there any others?

I don't think the Minari is currently available, Adam. Adrenaline have the rights I believe and there is talk of an alternative donor.

The only other I recall was the Alfa Plus of the early Eighties which was pretty much a panel job on the Sud. I've probably got pictures if you are interested purely from a historical point of view..?

(All this assumes you are talking about the Alfa Boxer....)

Happy New Year.

Ferg -

Thanks for that.

I've a couple of engines (one boxer and one two-litre twin cam) sat doing nothing and was wondering whether I couldn't put them to better use.

Do you know if there's a comprehensive on-line resource?

The Minari register site looks to be in hibernation.

Wouldn't mind seeing pictures of the Plus - e-mail cosmonaute@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks again,

Adam

There used to be a porsche 550 replica that used an Alfa engine, I nearly bought one, can't remember the name though.

The Raffo Belva never used an Alfa engine, though Raffo's previous car the Tipo did.

There was another company back in the 80s that made one Alfa based kit and planned another that never got past the prototype stage, but can't remember what it was called.

As for the Minari, Adrenaline do have plans to put an updated version back into production. Don't know the details, but suspect a new donor is inevitable as you can't get cheap Sud donors anymore.

Only current kits I can think of that use Alfa engines are Stratos replicas, some of which use the Alfa V6.

there's a very pretty alfa engined kit car that i've seen being campaigned in the HSA hillclimb championship, called a KUDOS

here's a link to a picture...

www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk/gallery/Gallery18/33%20email.jpg

although further googling and research shows it may well be unique, which is a pity, as in the flesh the car is gorgeous!

from the HSA website...

"Also making another appearance was newcomer, Graham Boulter, in his pretty, immaculate and unique Kudos coupe with a 1700cc Alfa boxer engine. The fibre glass monocoque car was the subject to almost constant attention from onlookers throughout the day."

I have a 1.5 alfa sud-sprint motor in the rear of my UVA fugitive-4, its a road going sand rail on a Q plate, the engine is on an adaptor and a swing axle beetle gearbox, a cracking little engine at only 95bhp.......I have a 115bhp 1.7 8v ready to go in when the 1.5 go's bang.......check out www.fugitives.co.uk and look at the gallery section in the forum.
