Yeah I laughed at the 0dB bit too smile It does say to go try them out before buying when they have a scrutineer at the circuit.

I suspect my mirrors were bought from here and are these ones:

http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/turbo-racing-mirrors-m11tb-755-p.asp

they are certainly that style.

Which actually reminds me that carbuilders was where I saw the inserts. Ere ya go:

http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/bolt-in-silencer-baffle-silbaf-452-p.asp

Can just see them flying out like a pair of bullets first time I put my foot down, hopefully missing the scrutineer biggrin

Hi Blib

I havent stopped thinking about one of these since I saw your photos posted here! Always had a soft spot for these.

What ball park figure would you pay for one of these? I'm just about to part with my westfield and I'm thinking about replacement options.

Hope you dont mind me asking.

The problem is not what you are willing to pay for one. It is, (unless you have the skill and the time to build your own car, a Stratos replica, either Hawk or Corse is a very technical build) whether one becomes available.

For me the sheer cost and unavailability of an original ruled it out. My total lack of mechanical skills procluded me even thinking about building my own car.

I just got lucky. When I started looking three vehicles came onto the market at once. They were snapped up extremely quickly. I was lucky enough to buy one of them.

As a ball park figure one is looking at £12k to £30K for a finished car. But you could pay alot more than that or rather less for a part build. I suggest that you visit the Stratos Enthusiast Club website and forum. Cars usually are posted for sale there first.

http://www.stratossupersite.com/forum/index.php?

The people on the forum are really decent and honest guys. They know their cars and are very willing to offer help and advice if you need it. I wish you luck if you choose to get hold of one. It's my dream car and I am a very happy bunny. biggrin

Edited to add:- Hawk , one of the kit suppliers, will build you a car for roughly £60,000. I assume Corse offer a similar build service but I'm not sure.

thumbup Many Thanks Blib!

I'll think-on on what you said, I'll be popping upto Stoneleigh in May with any luck so I'll see what I can learn there too.

I think they look awesome in Alitalia colours - got to be one of the best car shape / colours combo in history!

And at Chatsworth rally show. There are at least 4 replicas running then, plus hopefully Steve Perez and his Lancia version!

The more I look at your Olio liveried car on here -and elsewhere- the more I like it. I prefer the square arch grp4 to the round arch and I have no idea why. biggrin

There is a price on the Napiersport website. I think it was "Starting at 29K" but they don't say what sort of engine you get for that. I'm sure I read somewhere the average build price was more like 40K for built cars, because if you are spending that sort of money you may as well put a cracking engine in (like a new Ferrari lump) as it doesn't up the price by much of a percentage biggrin Of course the Napiersport doesn't use so many obsolete parts so it should be a faster & easier and so therefore cheaper build.

Would also add that unfinished kits can trickle out during the year, but it seems people only sell complete cars in the autumn presumably when they have finished having their summer fun in it smile

It is quite outrageous, and tbh I suspect the road handling suffers for the amount of rubber it takes to fill those arches. It certainly isn't the simple green Stradale that I started out wanting biggrin

That is rather a gorgeous car isn't it. cloud9
Just a heads up in case anyone is interested... Chassis Number 1 of the Pelland (which later became the Kudos) is up for sale in this month's Classic and Sportscar, of all places. Advertised as being in need of restoration, but comes with an Alfa Boxer 1.7 and yours for £2,000 ono.

Hi i have a 246gts with an alfa v6 engine, originally it had a 4 cyl lancia lump but the difference now is unbelieveable.I also had the cable shift fitted and can confirm thats its a nice bit of kit which allows very smooth and easy gear changes.Anyone thinking of building one should be aware these are not cheap to build, the previous owner spent over 25k (i have all receipts) only to sell it to me with a knocking engine at a big loss.Anyone interested i will be selling soon to fund a new project.
Hi, Have you any more thoughts on selling your 246 GTS, see my post yesterday under the general gassing station
section.
