Velomobiles are spot on apart from the safety issues and lack of none human power. Some great looking teardrop bodies there on YouTube.

Don't like that at all - such a narrow wheelbase and so high, the chances of high-siding that are way too high IMO. Looks like it's combined all the disadvantages of a car and bike, rather than all the advantages.

agree.......and wait till I tell you the projected speed....180 Km/h.........I'd really be scared to try that !!!!!!!

The major problem I see is the positioning of the engine and seattin position, too high.

The wheelbase is 2350mm, so similar to the ecoracer proposal, and 1200 wide, but the rest looks disproportionate.......

The concept is simlar, but we still have an advantage over the rest, but the concept has a lot of potential in my opinion.

Anyone considering a self build trike could consider a Kwak KLF300 (quad) front end. Available from www.andynoble.com for around £200 inc disc and calipers, wishbones and shockers. For the back of my trike I am using a Peugot speedfighter front leading arm unit with disc and caliper. Turn it around and its perfect as a trailing arm. Not posh but ideal for prototype work with out spending a fortune.
For motor kits take a look at www.electricmotorsport.com a very informative site with a good range of kits at reasonable prices. Mines at the clean the bits up stage but I will keep you posted. Hopefully I have tempted some to consider a similar project. The parts details are all here so go for it. Regards Stuart

Stuart,

Thanks for those links, it's really tempting to work on this project, and being thinking on final costs for a prototype....smile

Lumineo Smera, it looks like a very similar concept but with 4 wheels...I think it will be an expensive option to a citycar though..

I love the look of that silver 3-wheeler so I had a go at a quick 'n dirty restyle for the front.

I guess it's only the lights and the engine cover that really spoils the lines.

That looks cool. However for resons of cost etc, I think I would make it lower and wider (battery pods either side of driver and driver sat on floor) and do away with the carving. Also if 4 wheel motors and ultracaps are used then the breaks could be deleted from the design.

Well having drilled a hole straight through my finger I have slowed down a bit on the etrike this week but I did go for a blast and loved it. Seems stable, excellent acceleration, brakes on front only at time of test so quite a challenge. Hope to be completing it next week and then stripping for powder coating the chassis. Will be making some GRP panels next. Then I will be taking it to Newark Show. It weighs only 154kgs inc battery pack and zooms up to its top speed of 48mph in less than 6 seconds. Its a great laugh. I have made room for 6 34ah lead acid batteries under the seat. With LiFe the kerb weight would be around 120kgs. The motor will put out a peak of 34 bhp!
Did I say its crazy.
To road register it will be classed as a 3 wheeled moped which makes MSVA as easy as it gets. You can even add a screen made of plastic if you wish.
The intention is to sell the chassis plans and GRP for £350 with assembly instructions, full contact details of suppliers of components. The GRP will be a nose, rear cover, seat, 2 wings and a small bulk head. So if silent performance floats your boat it will be a very cheap way of going EV. I reckon it will do 25 miles on a charge which is long enough for many commutes. The motor/(programable)controller/contactor kit is only $1450. Add some S/H quad/bike bits/tube/bolts etc and you could easily build one for less than £1500.
