I've done all the four main Eurohoons in my Westie, the furthest was to Italy down about as far as Rome, ended up doing 3700 miles in 10 days. Hopefully off to Scicly this year in it.
Was about to shout out to you when I saw this thread I'm planning on taking ours to Le Mans classic from 2010 onwards, but once it's all systems go and the reality of it hits home I may change my mind

When are you getting your XI?I'm planning on taking ours to Le Mans classic from 2010 onwards, but once it's all systems go and the reality of it hits home I may change my mind
I doubt we'll make the SVA deadline, so will most likely end up having to get it through the new IVA which I've heard very polorised reports of... As we'll have a new type 9 gearbox I'm not sure what VOSA will give us as emissions targets... We may have to fit the old gearbox first then upgrade it later?!
Very excited about it
I'm planning on taking it on a megahoon too, but we'll have to see how realistic that is once it's done
Went to Lemans 2006 in my sylva striker (from Newbury). Was very hot - so glad I had a hat when sat in the traffic jams. Took a large soft bag and strapped it to the roll cage on top of the tent in the "boot". Meant that the hood would not fit but lucky and it did not rain for the 4 days I was there. Stopped for fuel about once an hour as the tank is very small.
In an open top car you are a target for any water being thrown around - biggest surprise was on the way to watch at the end of the Mulsanne at 2am when a bucket load landed on the screen and I never even saw who threw it! In the heat it was not unpleasant, though I've heard of beer being chucked around too which would not be good.
This was the first trip of more than 50 miles I'd done - I'd recommend doing a bit more than that beforehand to see which bits are going to fall off (if any).
