So I sit here in a rather strange position. I saw that vid a little while ago and today I had a sit in the Murt that this vid was taken in while Neil gave the car a good prod, the only way I have to try and explain what that was like is to say that you should try to imagine that the short vid there was actually in slow motion. It was seriously THAT quick, I have no idea what the 0 - any mph is in that but it is probably measured in amounts of faeces. That vid does NOT give a true idea of how savage that thing is - its a REAL monster!

The only other things I can say are expletives.

Dear Santa,

This year I have been very good and tidied my bedroom, please, please can I have ...

Glad you enjoyed the ride Nick - it is an experience that few can imagine - you have to try it to understand!

Few more fun bits here;- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OfMOMmE08i0

Hi Jake,
The blue demo cars runs a 315bhp motor producing 340lb ft of torque (dyno verified figure) built by Engine Tuner in Plympton, Devon. This engine is based on a 1996 WRX motor using a 2.5ltr bottom end conversion and SIMTEK ECU mapped by the guys at Engine Tuner.
Standard transmission parts consisting of an STI gearbox and rear differential, standard 4 pot front and single pot sliding rear calipers. Standard Murtaya specification road suspension set up. Standard recommended size 7/17 wheels with 215/40 Toyo Proxes T1R rubber.
In this trim it recorded an independently verified 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds at the TRAX show held at Silverstone but this figure does not really represent the whole picture on the performance of the car.
Lots of fun on the circuits but even better out on the B-roads!
We also have competition specification Murtaya demo cars, the black one which has been extensively pictured is pretty standard mechanically while the silver one featured in the in car footage shown on Youtube recently runs a host of trick parts including 6 speed dog box etc and is a brutal competition machine that really makes you concentrate!

Plenty of flash in that video, but not really suitable for kit car enthusiasts, if you don't mind me saying so. Done more in the manner of a music video, too many edits, impossible to actually learn anything from any of the scenes, and the stills jarred.

I dont know whether Neil wants to address that point personally, but from what I've seen of AMS's marketing and where they've exhibited in addition to the standard kit shows, it seems to me that they're opening up the potential market of who would be interested in their car.

I'd buy one tomorrow if I had the cash, but I might be more into a turn key than build-yer-own

Thats one thing i like when i first came across the car. the fact that its opening us use a larger market than the 'Standard' kit cars out there. Plus thefactory built option is a great idea, agian opening the car to an even larger market.

also there is the cars underpinnings. the tried and test scooby running gear! people love it and know it works VERY well in a 1300kg car, soimagine what is going to be like in a 1000kg one! smile

Neil how much marketing have yoyu done in the Japanise performance mags?? there are alot of readers in there that might be intrested in trying somethign a little different.

also how about some thing like PPC?? its right up their street! lol

fantastic car that one day i hope to own! smile

Brilliant, and up Longleat hill climb which is a great venue.
Many happy memories of revving the backside out of my little Imps, and unfortunately many memories of distributor drives going bang as well!
Thanks for the link, brought about a big nostalgic grin!

Must say I do like the Murtaya, but would be nice to see one in Coupe format similar to a Z4 Coupe

The hard top turns the car into a nice coupe so you get the best of both worlds IMHO.

i agree but with the hardtop changed into a removable roof panel like an elise also the same side prifle as an elise where the roof has 'tails' further back along the rear i think would improve the looks no end - still it wont stop me starting a build in 2009

A mention here http://www.totalkitcar.com/news.php#1840 of a Murtaya coupe in the pipeline. Would be nice if the coupe looks anything like the pictures

Neil, if you can create the car looking like that sketch then that will be fantastic. Good luck with the project.
