GTM Libra Restyling Concept
Discussion
Quite a few of you guys here asked on a restyling project for the Libra, and it would have looked like, so here is one of the many alternative sketches I did based on the Libra chassis.
I used the Spyder chassis because it gave me more freedom with the roofline, but it should work also with the coupe.........

I think it looks a tiny bit Smart Roadster at the back in the first sketch. I like it - the original Libra is quite a hard act to follow.
I agree with you, the original is a tough act to follow........but this is only one of the may sketches I have.......will post the others later. Also more than a hint of Lamborghini about it in places...
Beyond that, the first thing that strikes me is that it has a very short overhang at the back. It makes for an dramatic silhouette, but do you need that area for anything? Aerodynamic considerations? Crash protection? Luggage space? Just a thought (I'm trying to be more constructive than in my previous comments )
Looks good though!

In realty I've always designed cars with very short overhangs, and have being doing so since the early 90's...Beyond that, the first thing that strikes me is that it has a very short overhang at the back. I just think that we need more compact sportscars in the future, but this sketch is an exact overlay of a GTM picture, so it would keep the original luggage space.

I have to say that I don't like the new designs.
I think that there is a big market for a retro style coupe car that take in a mix of the Ginetta G4, the Opel GT (Especially the rear) and the Lotus Elite. Small, light weight and quick with a 150-200bhp ford unit. A boot that will allow you to take enough stuff to tour for a week in Europe. Priced at upto £ 20k built

I also have a design with your parameters in mind, but GTM doesn't have at the moment a similar chassis to work with.I think that there is a big market for a retro style coupe car that take in a mix of the Ginetta G4, the Opel GT (Especially the rear) and the Lotus Elite. I think a similar car exhists, and that is the Mx5.....or the classic Ginetta G20...

But they are all front engined cars, Snapper. Such a GTM simply wouldn't be a GTM anymore. The Libra doesn't do badly in space efficiency and maybe might benefit from a slight size increase to make it a true GT.

I know you like it, Italo, but have you put a touch of Midas in the rear wheelarch/three quarters area.
Or am I mistaken?
I actually did, in fact that was my idea to take the shape of the classic Midas and update it over the GTM Libra chassis.......Or am I mistaken?
But this was only one of the sketches, I have lots more to show......

A bit of high backed Gold Coupe? Yep I like that too, I think that because the rear end is so short and small it has to have a high rear like that, similar to a Gold, Smart Roadster-Coupe or original Honda CRX.Or am I mistaken?
