Marlin, might not be there...they weren't quite as keen:

"If Den Tanner could sort out what he puts in the mags re WK mag and concentrate on promoting without feeling the need to keep knocking on about WK we would be interested in putting a car on the track."

But I suppose they say that they would be interested.

ing hypocrites!!!

There were absolutely no complaints from them when Peter was in full swing in his (unfair and untrue) attacks against me. I've never heard them express a word against his excluding Kit Car form his shows either. Furthermore, I gain the impression that they're genuinely disappointed that Peter is loosing the battle and are affronted that I’m saying so.

The good news is that they will be on track. As the attacks are over. Sad fact is that come the actual day, they’ll have thought of another excuse, as indeed they have done for the past 6 or 7 years.

As I said, ing hypocrites!!!

But surely that's no suprise Den, hasn't there always been a cosy tie-up between Filby and Marlin??

'Peter Filby Specialist Cars'and 'Marlin Cars' at 'The Specialist Sportscars Centre' in association with 'Which Kit?' based in Crediton have advertised in WK?

Quite right Ferg,

And what alludes me, is that Marlin were at the rough end of the AF Sports push. Had it worked, both Dave Pepper and Marlin would have been done over. Yet Terry still thinks the sun shines out of Peter’s nether regions.

Really beats me All my campaign in Kit Car has sought to do is to make people aware of the truth, yet brain of Britain, Terry, just can’t see that’s good for all (including her).

Perhaps someone ought to ask her precisely which of my words she finds so objectionable. I think the most offensive are those of Peter’s which I publicly quote back to him. Spineless, for example!

WHERE ARE YOU, YOU SPINELESS COWARD! HIDING BEHIND TERRY’S SKIRT?
WHY LET AN IGNORANT WOMAN FIGHT YOUR BATTLES?

How does Marlin boycotting Kit Car and and its activities and religiously following Fib’s help their commercial cause. I’d say they are VERY LUCKY that I’m not like Fib’s. And I'm not!!! Marlin is a good company with a good product and Kit Car will always report truthfully in this respect. However it is exasperating that our honesty and integrity isn't returned.

It was such lack of support that caused the whole sad situation in the first place.

Bitchy bitchy - the lot of you!

I'm buying a car from Terry, (I've not seen her in a skirt yet BTW)

I could try and be a little diplomatic and try and persude them if you wish. I'm sure Mark would like every opportunity he can to show off the new 5Exi. It is that good you know!

Anyway after what I had heard (and what you told me, Den) I thought KC and Marlin had started working together a bit now, what with the advert in the latest mag.

After all the idea of this track attack! ('erm, be nice if the attack was there!#) is to bring manufacturers, enthusiasts and potential customers together.

Den or Matt, email me if you want an independant approach.

The Marlin ad in the last issue was a freebie!

I might appear bitchy, but ask yourself where you’d be in my position.

Kit Car alleges that a certain other publication is biased and bent.

So, Terry says I’ll support the biased and bent publication because being biased and bent is a lesser crime than truthfully pointing out that the other is biased and bent.

Makes a lot of sense don’t it? But that is Terry’s position. Either she isn’t very bright or there’s some dodgy dealing in the background. Either way she’s speaking up for a man who hasn’t the bollocks to do it for himself. She operates dual standards too, in that she took no stand when the boot was on the other foot.

Her excuse a few years ago was that she would not support Kit Car because it was run by a man (me) with a vested interest. Of course things are different now but she seems to have now lost her objection to working with someone with a vested commercial interest.

Please, just ask her where her commercial interests lie. She’s been buoying up Which Kit? for years but it continues to sink. She’s done everything in her power to boycott Kit Car but it continues to expand. Perhaps, even she, might work out that it can’t be in her interest to continue to treat Which Kit? preferentially.

I CERTAINLY can’t see how it helps her to deny Kit Car her cars for testing, or in this case how it helps to boycott an event organized by Kit Car. She’s simply cutting off her nose to spite her faces.

Sad situation indeed, but lets look at the positives. As you say Den, there is no reason that Marlin won't now be there, a bonus for everyone as it is indeed a good kit.

So responses so far are:

SSC:
"Yes count us in."

Mac#1:
"initially seems like a good idea, however I think location, cost and timing would play an important factor in the decision making, but on a posative note, with advertising in the magazine, and local advertising it could be very beneficial to interest/sales.
please keep me informed"

Fisher:
"We would be very interested in attending Action/Track day events. We already hold 3+ events ourselves but are always interested in other proposals."

Gardner Douglas:
"We would be very interested. Keep me informed."

Z cars:
"its a very good idea and from experiance is always well received by the public so we would certainly be keen to be involved"

Luego:
"We would definately be interested in something like this, cost will be a factor but if it is a well supported event I see no reason why we wouldn't attend."

Blimey, I must have had my most charming head on when I wrote my email . All sounding very promising, and I'll keep you all informed as and when I hear anything.

all the best,

matt.

All fair points ex-biker, marlins are good kits, and the whole idea is to bring us all together to enjoy and promote kitcars and the lifestyle they bring...it is for that reason that I'm keen to get potential customers and manufacturers attending. I honestly think things are fine with Marlin, and there is no need to mediate...they just wanted a gripe, although in truth were keen to say that they would attend:

"If Den Tanner could sort out what he puts in the mags re WK mag and concentrate on promoting without feeling the need to keep knocking on about WK we would be interested in putting a car on the track.

Kind Regards

Terry Matthews"

Thanks for your assistance though ex-biker, and good look with the 5exi.

Matt.

Sorry folks,

It touched a nerve.

Remember the chronology ?

Fell out with Fib’s and got barred from his shows. In an attempt to maintain my business (both magazine and Pilgrim) I attempted to run shows of my own.

Problem was that a group called the ASCM (arrogant scumbags cretins & morons), of which Marlin was a member, campaigned to ensure my shows were boycotted by as many manufacturers as possible. Fib’s has always managed to get others to fight his battles for him. I consequently couldn’t make the shows work and gave up after three years having lost quite a bit of dosh (and some pride). As you all know, I’m still barred from Fib’s shows and nobody is prepared to confront him concerning the injustice.

Understand why I got tetchy? For the first time in ages the possibility of a Kit Car event crops up and I’m advised that things haven’t changed one iota for one particular antagonistic manufacturer.

However, it doesn’t matter for a whole range of reasons.

Let’s discuss Matt’s achievements. Not one narrow minded manufacturers short sightedness and hypocracy.

I'm a little torn between, when it comes to Marlin and KC. For obvious reasons.

So I will not try to bitch or defend either party.

On the other hand Den, when you talk about the problems of the past involving shows: This event has all the makings of something very successful and if held at the right place etc might enable manufacturers not only out on track but the ability to show some stuff and take some orders.

Come on Den, calm down , Matts doing very well , this is exactly the kind of thing that will allow Kit Car to become a leader in its field , by showing its impartial etc (it may even get , later on , Marlin to actualy come to you and PAY as thay want the advertising in KIT CAR) . And could benefit you in shows as the pressure could come from the manufacturers themselves . It wont happen overnight , but it will happen . You will then be able to trade on your own reputation .

I disagree with this, as I think we were (to coin a phrase) "forgeing ahead for 2004". Who cares what one manufacturer thinks, don't let it consume you... look at how many are happy to come, surelly that's more important.

IMHO trying to assertain which 'Side' people are on will have a negative effect and usually ends in tears.

This is the perfect opertunity to break this rift in the Kit car industry, and to some extent I think it was working.

Anyway.... I think you are going to need a big track for all those cars.
and don't forget Noise.... no point booking Goodwood as quite a lot would never make the noise limits.
One reason I suggested Bedford.... I can easily meet their 101db noise limit and drive by's.

Real sorry Matt.
Looks like I really sodded up your flow .

I've managed to secure some trackdays for kit car magazine at such venues as: Elvington Airfield (york), Cadwell park (lincolnshire), and the Lotus test track at Hethel, with some others a possibility. The prices are looking good, with Elvington being under £100 (for 2 drivers!), and with negotiation and some money off vouchers in the mag, Den is hoping to get it closer to £80, (lotus track is well under £150!! as is Cadwell (both for 2 drivers again) )

The only thing is, trackdays are all well and good if you have a car, but what if you are still choosing? Well, the plan is to have "actiondays", if you have a car, then go out on track and have fun; if you are still looking, then still come along and for a small entry fee (£15?) you get a static kit show in the pits from invited manufacturers, as well as those companies giving "hot passenger laps" out all day.

Your entry ticket would give you say 4 laps in each car? (not just the WK £15 for 3 laps )

So, what you all reckon? Action days a go go? and how many per year? costings sounding OK?? interested in static displays and some "hot laps?" etc, etc.

Let us know, as you decide if it happens!

This is looking real good. As I see it, John’s advertising it, Matt’s organizing it, some firm’s running it and everybody (except me and Marlin) is doing it.

Somehow I think I’ll get more involved than that.

I’ll BE THERE TOO

Den
PS Nice offer John.
