What Pisses Me Orrf
Discussion
It's odd isn't it.
I am selling a lot of my bike gear at the mo. However Mrs Ex-Biker has already said she doesn't want to sell it all and that she can't see me never having a bike again, or her never going on the back again.
I got the bike in May as I'd got withdrawl symptons and I do miss it now (to the extent that I won't buy m/c mags or see my mate in the shop he works). It's definately a motorbike thing.

When I was courting Mrs Kitcarman, she rode a tuned Triumph Bonny. I’ve had a few (much smaller) bikes in my time.
Back on thread. What pisses me off is that my 17 year-old son is nagging the arse off us both at the mo. He’s determined to get a bike
Any advice as to how to put him off the idea?
I think he’d be safer in one of these

You won't like this, but I'd let him have one.
However, I'd visit a few bike shops and find out if there is a bikesafe program (or similar) in the area. If he learns enough about how unpredictable and how little observation the average car driver has and always rides with this in mind, he'll be ok.
I hate to say it (on a car forum), but 90% of the time, it's not the biker!

I am a holder of a bike licence, but my '57 Cafe-raced Tiger 90 lives exclusively in my garage and I can't think when it might emerge again. I just got fed up with drivers trying to kill me.
If you can impress that upon a new rider I think he'll be OK by and large. Ironically I think it's the 'Born again' riders who are most at risk. They are used to being in their car and being 'invincible' and can remember riding Suzuki GT250s and 550s in their youth when there were just fewer cars on the roads....oh, and people didn't park right on top of ****ing junctions either.

Mark,
I shouldn’t admit this, but I was driving home one evening with kitcarman junior in the passenger seat.
Suddenly, as I was going over one of those horrible Y junctions, junior went ape.
STOP – YOU , he shouted at me.
I hadn’t seen this biker, cos the angle of the junction placed him in line with the B post at the moment I decided to pull out.
Even with this vivid real life illustration, he reckons he’ll be the only biker who isn’t knocked off his bike by a er in a Volvo (on that occasion a Pick-Up).

He'll do it if he wants.
My mum threatened me about not having a bike. When I came back from work one day with the garages C90 she nearly knocked me off if before I stopped.
She don't care as much now. Or is it she has realised that I (can be)'m sensible or I'll do it anyway and you always do what you r parents don't want!!!

ex b thats a real ouch you're little tete a tete with the diesel. I lost a good friend to a my friend was a little like yourself not the most attentive of speed limits but on this occasion he was within the speed limit I know cos another of my friends was with him anyway he was approaching a blind hump backed bridge on his way home from work on his bike. As he crested the bridge this tw@t was overtaking something coming the other way rob my friend didn't stand a chance. went over the top of the car
Obviously it's not speed that kills, more the lack of it to get out of a given situation (and in the diesel case, lack of stabilisers).
Back to this wot pee's you orf!
The Government telling us that speed kills when we all know more deaths are due to lack of observation and driver aggression (eg tailgating).
The correct phrase is 'inappropriate speed and not being considerate to others on the road users kills!!!'
