Sadly the 222(by coincidence) miles and my son's footie season make it just silly to go to Exeter so I'll miss Den's round
However it is my intention to spend a camping weekend at my favourite show, Stoneleigh in May OOo, I'm looking forward to it already!!
BTW Ex-B, in the days before SVA I remember seeing a Burlington SS parked at Stoneleigh with no windscreen, bonnet held on with bungees, no paint and a tax disc dated that very day!!! If the 5EXi is light enough maybe you could push it!!

Won't be camping over, Its only about 1 1/2 hours away
having said that camping over means no driving therefore lots of can be consumed with fellow phers.

Hoping to have spartan in a position where I only need seats and wheels by the time stoneleigh comes buy some there cheap and be ready for newark in June

Oh yeh! Anyone build a kit in less than 3 months then?

Even if I take a month off work, I'm not sure I could do it. It is my first you know!

That would be 48*4=192 hours, sounds feasible

Yeah, but Mark Evans was working on it full time, putting in long days and had everything delivered new to his fully kitted out workshop.
Jealous? But of course!

Agreed, but he made a point of saying "I've spent xx hours so far.... the equivalent of xx weekends"

What he should have said was "WE'VE spent xx hours..."

As for the workshop....... bar-steward!

Although that workshop paled into insignificance compared to the one he built the helicopter in, and the one who refurbed the motorbikes in.....

Lucky git!

What, you mean,'Pete mate' with 'dodgy directorcam'?
He was helping?
Still a cracking series though, wouldn't mind getting it on dvd if they just played all the episodes back to back and didn't edit it any further.

Same goes for a car is born, I enjoyed that too!

Oh Oh!
When Mark built the Sumo on ‘A Car is Born’ He came to the factory two days a week for 12 weeks to do the filming. On the other days we had staff preparing all the bits for the next ‘shoot’ and finishing the ‘other side’. Mark only fitted one front suspension, one lamp, one mirror, etc and had what he did do pretty well laid out.

Not long days at all.

Still he did it in less than 12 weeks!

Is that what you had in mind, Ex-Biker?

Agreed.

I actually like the bloke, and think he fronts the "...is born" series very well, as he comes across as an enthusiastic amateur who just so happens to be a TV presenter. (Which I guess is what Keith Duddy set out to achieve in the first place!)

I would like the "Car is Born, Racing Car is Born, and Car is Re-born" on DVD or video.... but not the edited versions that you can get from Pilgrim..... but they don't appear to be on any current Discovery/Discovery H&L schedule at the moment.... although I'm sure they'll get shown again.... I'll be ready with my capture card (VHS is dead and buried these days!)

I loved all the is born series, very enthusiastic, just the sort of guy the kit car industry needs to promote it, imo. The racecar is borm series has made me want to have a go at hillclimbs even more than I did previously.

Agreed, and Sky+ is waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.

errr no!

I recon I've got about 12 - 20 hrs a week spare and as I said, it's my first.

I'd love to have it done quickly, but I'd rather do it properly and miss most of the summer driving.

Anyway isn't this thread about Exeter?

Well Ex-Biker,
Let’s get this back on thread then.

Did you know that it was at the Exeter show in 1999(or was it?) that Mark Evens c/w Keith Duddy and film crew turned up to kick-off the “……is Born” TV series.

Brought there by KCM

Shortly after filming began on the Sumo build.
