Ok can anybody help me?

Firstly can any tell me whether TIM gauges are any good? I'm trying to do my dads Sylva Striker up a bit and it could do with a dash redesign.

Secondly, insurance. I'm 20 (21 at the start of december) and was just wondering what the insurance prices would be like? It a standard striker with a mildly tuned 1700xflow in it, twin 40s, BCF2 cam (I'd estimate 125Bhp top)

Do you recommend I go on my dads insurance? He seems to believe that you can insure the car for any drivers over 21 but I could see that costing a lot.

BTW I have no no claims (never had my own insurance).

TIA

Ben

benje, welcome to pistonhead

I was in the same position as yourself (20, no previous car owned), I own a marlin roadster 1800TC, which is different to yours in design obviously (has running boards and is "classicly" styled"), but I was pleasantly surprised by Graham Skyes/Sabre insurance. Not only did they quote me, but they also gave me a damned good deal! TPFT unlimited mileage came in at £600! well worth it.

The companies listed in KC mag (when I bought it a while back now) were :

graham skyes - 0870 444 6320
Osbourne & Sons (25+) - 0845 330 6001
Roadsure kits )23-65) - 0208 989 3339
Sivtern Direct - 0700 20 20 230
HIC (not 17 or 18) - 08451 212 212
Elite Insurance (Adrian Flux) - 0845 130 3400
Backford Kit & Classic - 0151 356 776
Footman James - 0121 561 4196
Kimberlin Insurance Services - 0116 244 8900
A.W. Marlow & Co - 01283 740 440
C.I.C - 01206 792 927
Gott & Wynee - 01492 870 991
Hill House Hammond - 01733 310 899 (quote kc)

the ones which would quote me were (due to age restrictions):
graham skyes - 0870 444 6320
Elite Insurance (Adrian Flux) - 0845 130 3400
Footman James - 0121 561 4196

GS and AF were the best out of the two, and where as I prefered AF for their wish to help, the people on the phone and so-forth GS was so much cheaper I couldn't ignore it.

Ring around, you'll be surprised I reckon!

Got a quote from msm and they wanted £364 third party for a limited mileage of 1500. Think I might try to see what I'd get on my dads.

Cheers
