Hi,
I'm looking for something similar to this but I've no idea if it exists or what it might be called:

Preferably stainless steel but ali alloy will do. As an alternative to the thread rod it could have a tapped hole going into it's base.

Thanks for any thoughts,
Rob.

Dear Rob,
Pilgrim, NG, Pimlico and a number of other manufacturers supply a very similar fitting to this.

However, it’s difference is that instead of treaded shank in its base, it has a solid shank.

In the cars mentioned, the said fitting is pushed into the end of the tubular hood-frame. The hole at the end acts as swivel upon which the hood frame is pivoted into its up and down positions.

Have you tried Woolies www.woolies-trim.co.uk/StockCatagories.html as they seem to carry all sorts of odds & sods

Hi, thanks for the leads guys, I shall follow them up.

I also had a brainwave in the middle of the night (very rare occurance!) and figure I might be able to use a rod end.

Only proble so far is finding one with a 6mm hole through the bearing and a maximum width of 7mm so that it can fit into the fork ends of this fella:

Wouldn't be a problem to make on a lathe/milling machine. Even easier and you could do with hacksaw/file/drill/tap if you made in 2 parts, upper from a round section bar, with M6 tapped into base. Then locktite in a bit of M6 rod.
If you need a bunch of them of course could become a tad time consuming.

Sorted, found a local engineering firm who can knock some up exactly as I need.

No doubt could've knocked some up with a hacksaw but we're talking 8 at the moment in 304 stainless steel so not good on the blades If the kit is well received then I don't fancy making them indivdually each time!!

Cheers,
Rob
