Not exactly on in main-line is it?

A project for one of the magazines then?

Den!
Want to stump up the cash for a KitCar exclusive?

I realise this subject has hyjacked the thread a bit.

How about it Den. Let's see you put something in your mag about it.
There seems to be interest.
Has there ever been something done like it before?

Apparently this is serious, so to answer seriously.
Kit Car is always prepared to feature the weird and wonderful.
A few months ago we ran an excellent feature on a Lotus Elise converted to run on household ‘mains’ gas. Very interesting with 200 miles worth of it costing only a couple of quid.
We’ve featured Quantum and Westfield diesel cars, so there’s no prejudice.
If anybody wanted to submit an article on this or any other related subject, we’d publish it. Subject to it being reasonably well written, technically correct and most importantlyinteresting.

Den

Or to paraphrase:

You build it, if it si any good, I'll print it.
Pay for it? ahh, I appear to have left my wallet at home.

Have to say can't blame Den for not wanting to pay for a diesel project as it does have limited appeal

Graham, I wonder if you know Kris Brown?
Only by reputation as director of Unique Autocraft and as a hot rodder from way back.

Was wondering how 'official' the use of the name was myself.

Graham,
It’s not so much the use of either name that’s of concern to me. Rather the implication that the good will in one of those names is in some way ‘absorbed’ by RV Dynamics. The gist of the advertisement is that a well established manufacturer has come back and that his reputation for quality will assure the excellence of the new product. Phrases like “This classic has moved with the times” give the impression that the new (monty) Python is the product of the ongoing development of the old established Python.

Another impression given is that the new seller of the (monty) Python, does so with the benefit of the moulds, jigs and other fittings developed for the original Python. I simply don’t believe this is the case. It would explain why a new mould is (apparently) being made and why the chassis took two years to materialise. Also I recall an advert that regularly ran in Which Kit? seeking a part-built original Python. Ever heard of a bona-fide kit car manufacturer wanting to buy back a part built example of one of his past kits? Smells very to me. However, I’m a cynic.

I simply don’t believe there’s any connection between the new and the old. I think that somebody has just ‘apprehended’ a name and is seeking to kid potential buyers that the established credentials of that name are applicable to a ‘brand’ new product. Again Kris would be able to clarify this point.

I know Kris is about because he sent a message of condolence concerning the recent sad loss to us all of Peter Coxhead. Unfortunately I never got his original e-mail.

Glad we’re friends

Sorry for the delay Andy. The went at 11.00am. It was ‘Big Ed’ who having finalised the Jan issue, wanted to discuss the flat-plan of the Feb issue which has to be written, art-worked and pdf’ed by mid-December.

To put this differently, I’ve got work to do AND your post was only 1 ½ hours ago

I like what you’ve done and shall put it forward to ‘Big Ed’. Again a couple of pics would ‘lift’ your letter to ‘article’ status. Got any of the car? Or you? Or the car with you and the sprogs in it?

Den
PS. Your thread won’t take replies, so it’s here or nowhere.
BTW. Is it alright if I take a break now?

sorry if I was a little impatient its just that in the past you have been very prolific in your posts. Have got some pictures at home of the car as I first saw it and how it stands now which is a naked chassis and engine. Obviously the story of the car is to be continued.

Will send a couple of photos when I get home depending on how big the email gets

Sorry, I was away from the forum for a while. The 'information' consists of a colour leaflet with three sheets attached to it. Seems OK for a kit car brochure to me. The contact details are 1 Howard Rd and an e-mail address for (I guess) Vince Wright. Less spelling mistakes than the cover of KCM too

Why don't you think Ex-Biker will get a brochure? Didn't it take extra long for your magazine to reach him in Cornwall (or was that because of the post strike).

No prob’s. I’ve answered in more detail on ‘your’ thread.

Any news from Fib’s, Vince (Reg for that matter) or news of Kris? Also, is there a Python brochure or is it just information?

Fib’s silence IS REALLY TELLING, isn’t it?

Den.

I'm hoping to have it today. I do agree that the post tends to take a little longer to get here.

Sorry Den, but with regard to the quality of the brochure. Have you seen what some companies hand out?

My Marlin brochure consists of a 2 sided A4 sheet, a price list and a donor list.

I know Banham send out photocopied stuff with a photo of the car enclosed.

Others are very similar. Many refer you to the internet.

I'm not saying it's right. I would not be happy if I went to buy a Porcshe at the motorshow (or if I called the nearest Porcshe dealer a(80 miles) and asked for a brochure)to be given an info leaflet.

Where these kit car manufacturers do redeem themselves is in the level of customer service and technical knowledge. At a show it's nice for a manufacturer to have some time for you as an individual.

I know what's coming now

Before it does, I've only talked about brochures. I know we've never seen someone from the Python factory / RV Dymanics or a kit on show.

Yes, the Marlin factory is closer than the nearest Porsche dealer

I'm not saying all . . . I have received some very nice brochures.

Westfield, Birkin (?) and the like. I think you would expect it from these. I was very impressed with the details sent to me from Robin Hood and I know many other s are very good.

One that did confuse me was info for the Aeon seen at Exeter. Loverly car, well built, knowledgeable team on the stand and professional promotion material. The only problem is that promotional material is all it was. A very well printed A5 flyer. There were no brochures, info leaflets, breakdowns of costs or pricelists available.

Why don't you think Ex-Biker will get a brochure?. . .

It all depends what you believe.

You know that I believe the Python is a mythical creature.

I similarly believe that the Python brochure is mythical.

If you’re satisfied that the 4 sheets you’ve been delivered constitute a brochure then I’m happy for you . I wish I’d had you and your kind as customers when I was a kit car manufacturer.

Mark, Did you receive a brochure?

perhaps the python should be called the "basilisk" as this is a mythical creature but also maintains the snake reference.

Would that make den Harry potter then????
