F355 replica's
Discussion
if you see the very earliest versions of the Ultima it was quite clearly a heavily 917 inspired car.... however since then Ted has turned it into something that looks unique and vastly superior IMO.
The builder of that ultima claimed it took 10,000hrs to build, seeing the mods he made and finish he got he certaily took far longer than the average.
I've read about it and seen it at shows only.

Think I've seen that lambo before, thought it was real when I saw it, was at a show in the south near bournmouth I think.
Found another pic if it helps.
and another kit car, which I think due to what it is based on is going to be TERRIBLE!!!! so any guesses what it was?

All replicas? What is the replica Ultima based on???
originaly a 917?
and thats a sports..... probably the best finished sports out there as well.
I think we may be at crossed purposes here...
The original post from F1ACK inferred that all those cars were replicas of something.
The Ultima is an original design (the first cars were a little derivative perhaps, although I think you do Noble a little injustice suggesting anything more than a slight nod to 917)
My childish post was simply a deliberate misunderstanding that someone had built a repllica of an Ultima out of something.
How is progress on the GTT???
I was carrying on the missunderstanding and tried in vain to turn it into a vailed justification of why we shouldn't flame relipca's so readily.....
I don't think I do Noble any injustice.... one thing I noticed was throughout his career he learns and moves on very quickly, never content to say 'my product is perfect I'm not gona change it'. I respect that hugely.

Sorry I don't know if they are replicas or not, I didn't even attend the show I'm afraid, the chap taking the pictures thought they were all genuine. All I know is ALL of those cars were on the Italian Replica Club stand
They are all replicas - I'm a member of that club.
Some are very good indeed, some are obviously replicas. All of them are enjoyed by their owners, which after all, is just what the cars are for.
The club organiser (Roy Kelly) makes MR2/355 kits. Frankly those kits do nothing for me personally, but I'd never stab an enthusiast so viciously as some people have done on here, just because their car isn't to my taste. Chill out guys.

Still don't understand why the Ultima was on the Italian stand.
Nothing remotely Italian about it.
Nice pics BTW

Because the lad who owns it used to have a GT40 replica... Obvious, eh?
It's because the club used to cater for all forms of exotic kitcars, and some time ago focused on Italian exotica, but it's not a hard and fast rule - it's more of a friendly club than that.

i have seen some good replicars on ebay ,i agree that
a mr2 is abit short come pared to the real thing.
we have a 355 spider wich looks awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but we got it 2nd hand.
you can get a real ferrari 2nd for arownd 55grand
from Benz-bavarian.
55 grand!!! you can nearly get a house for that!
I know this little debate was a long time ago. But with all fairness, how can any of you say that the replica kits look nothing like the real thing. The Extreme kit is almost identical to the real thing. The door vents are the same size (unlike the BAD kit) the front lights are put in the right posistion and the rest of the kit looks the same. It is a very nice car for less than a 3rd of the price of the real thing. Still drives nice when they are looked after and don't go to bad either. Why anyone would go to such lengths to slag them off is un real. Each to there own is what I say. If you like them, buy one, if you don't like them, then don't bloody buy one. But don't spend all your time slagging them off.
