This is goes back to 'the big car argument' do you want a car for the way it looks, or the way it goes? What is more important? Maybe PetrolTed could do something where we vote about the answer and we'd have a nice pie chart which is always updated. Each member gets one vote only!
can i vote to have a bit of both?!

It's a big compliment to Ferrari that people desire their cars so much that they want one that looks the same.

So you drive a car purely for egotisical purposes, rather than driving pleasure.
People like you are the reason why people get their Ferraris keyed.

Why, exactly then, DO people get their Ferraris keyed?
Is the way a car looks not part of driving pleasure?
How can you use the word 'purely' based upon an 'either/or' question and answer?
Just wondered?

Odviously using this argument almost all classic car owners are also egotistical... as classic cars are almost always bought for more money than their modern alternatives, which comprehensivelly run rings round them in all areas... except maybe looks!!!
if nobody was bothered what their car looked like how long would it be before all cars on the road looked the same, i mean were not that far off that now, due to aerodynamics ect.
although at least some manufactures are making a bit of an effort to make theirs look a bit different (even if they are slightly weird!)
i wonder what the most aerodynamic car is anway?

The resons why people get their Ferraris keyed, is because alot of people think that people own Ferraris to show their own status in society, and to display their wealth to others. When infact, the owner might just want to drive an really good handling fast car. Will and co are driving cars for purely egotistical purposes, trying to make other people like you. Oh and on the subject on off classic cars, people drive them because they are a challenge to drive, and involve some form of skill

Well, it should not be the reason why you buy a car, if you have a fast car, that handles really well that happens to be a thing of beauty, then great, but to buy a car soley on looks, to try and make people like you, then you are as shallow as a sink

Although I feel like I'm playing Devil's Avocado, I'd agree that it shouldn't be the be all and end all, BUT the original question was so black and white that it left no grey area to allow for cars that both looked good and handled well, but did neither perfectly. This car, just as an example, can handle sublimely and out perform the McLaren F1, but there's no way I'm driving it (except perhaps once for a laugh).

..but I'm not sure anyone said they would...especially about the 'make people like you'.
if anybody wanted a car to make people like them why would they buy a ferrari, wouldnt they buy a caterham 7 type car?(there was a vote a while back and the car that got the most positive remarks was a 7)
do most classic car owners drive it for a challenge?
is it a challenge to drive a morris minor, or a beetle. i suppose my old nova wasnt easy to drive (it had really bad bump steer, and if the sun was shining in your face visability was crap!) but i wouldnt really) but i wouldnt have called it a chalenge!
and then if people wernt bothered how their car looked and were only bothered about how it drove why do they spend a lot of time washing and polishing it?

I would not drive that monstrosity of a car, I would rather have a standard looking civic that was seriosuly fast. If I drove a Ferrari, I would not even be bothered if nobody ever saw me in it.
And my pov
I would actually drive that car(you stole my pic) just cause of the fact that if people say its look stupid and Im a tt for making it, I can just woop em on the track none the less.
DBF- Washing your car and polishing it is different from buying a car based on looks. People will even wash/polish the ugliest of cars. Think of it as the presentation, you want it to look clean and in top shape. You may be an ugly minger, but does that stop you from showering and dressing nicely?

Death mate, the you drove the Nova in question, is because you couldn't afford anything better, we are talking about proper 'classics'. Oh and regarding washing your car, there is nothing wrong with having a bit of pride in what you own, as long as you are not using it to 'show off' or 'be flash'
