sounds like there is a deep predjudice here.

Please remember that the older more affordable Ferraris probably can't out perform an MR2 turbo anyhow!

So if you can only buy a Ferrari if you want the outstanding performance that they give rather than the looks.... well then there is no argument to buy one!

My Ultima outperformed any ferrari short of an Enzo for much less money.... but then I wouldn't be so arrogant to call other drivers of 'lesser' machinery stupid names, or judge them!
In fact I question why you feel you have to?

Death mate, the you drove the Nova in question, is because you couldn't afford anything better, we are talking about proper 'classics'. Oh and regarding washing your car, there is nothing wrong with having a bit of pride in what you own, as long as you are not using it to 'show off' or 'be flash'

ok, the bit about washing your car was a bit daft.

but anyway what are proper classics?

i bought my nova (first car!) partly 'cus it looked nice, the beetle mecanics meant i could work on it myself, i love the simplicity of it (unlike the mr2 which is just a mass of wires and pipes!) and insureance was cheap! although handling (which was eventually sorted) and performance wern't that good although i did add twin carbs and a few other bits.

then i bought my ginetta, it was cheap and practical handling and performance were pretty good. it looked slightly weird/crap! and insureance was cheap.

then i sold the nova and bought a half finished 355 rep 'cus it looked nice, it was practical it didnt leak and rattle performance was quite good and insureance was cheap!

if i buy a car one thing it has to do is look nice, obviously i wouldnt buy on looks alone nor would i buy on performance alone.

I love kitcars like the Ultima and Radicals but once they try and make current Ferrari replicas it just aint right.

Why not have a really fast MR2 instead of a fake ferrari?

Pwig speaking at jessicas house here.

Well, why not just have an MR2? Surely that did all the performance side of things?
Why did you buy an F355 replica though? Why not just an MR2?

No, you buy a Ferrari for top class handling and speed.

I am not calling MR2s. I am calling replicas.

like i already said, i wanted something a bit diffent, normal mr2's are a bit boring, and then teres cheap insureance, and it holds its value.

How does the MR2 looking like a 355 make the driving any less boring? Or maybe its just more exciting to pose as an exotic car.

Its just like beauty in our society today. People will do everything to look beautiful no matter how shitty they feel on the inside.

i do feel shitty inside, but i blame that on too much beer and lack of sleep (bastard clocks going back!)

I think the point is he likes the shape, simple as that.

As I say, personnely I wouldn't have one of these ferrari replica's, but I did seriously consider a Diablo replica as I love the shape.
In fact the only reason I'm not doing one is because the Diablo is becoming common in the replica market and I want to be different.. bit like wanting your MR2 to be different.

There are all kinds or replicas being built out there from ferrari 360's, Diablo's to jaguar XJ220's right back to the Enzo, I've even seem an F40 that cost more than a real one to build (had 800bhp though).

The peice of the puzzle that you are missing is that a lot of us (especially in this forum) would rather build their car than buy outright.
