Forgive me Father’s because I have sinned....

During the last month I have formulated (and started to implement) a plan for my next car.
For all my sins it is going to be a 2 seater mid engined supercar like the Ultima.
With some differences though and not least significant is that I expect it to take between 3 and times as long to build!

Spec will be:-
V12 with twin turbo’s.
Dry sump.
GT3 Porsche gearbox.
355mm disc & huge calipers all round.
19 or 20in wheels.
Full electronic dash & engine management combined.
1000-1100kgs.

I have started the ball rolling with a deposit on the chassis and I bought the gearbox a while ago. I also picked up the car with my donor engine (BMW 750) last Saturday and I only have the rear calipers to buy to complete the brakes.

Some will know from experience that I am currently walking the fine line on the edge of divorce as I am yet to sell my Ultima (one of the most important requirements for wifal approval).

However I just couldn’t stop myself.

The trump card that I am playing is that the car I am building is a Nemesis from RV dynamics. It will be modified to have all new parts except the engine (like the Ultima) and there are going to be a few minor body changes to bring the shape up to date and more to my taste.

I’m not going to go into too much detail as to why except that it is only me going to see them due to the discussions on here that has introduced me to Vince and got me interested in this car, and the main reasons I am going for the Nemesis is that Vince has agreed to make the necessary changes to the car to meet my needs, and it falls within my extremely tight (£25-30k) budget.

Delivery date is set for ‘when the Ultima is sold’ to prevent a very expensive divorce (I wonder if Brittany Spears is available this weekend?), but it should be ready for delivery in a few months.
and yes I have handed over a sizeable deposit so I suppose I am sort of a guinea pig for us on this forum, but I obviously have confidence Vince will deliver.
For all my sins my money is now where my mouth is!

Will I get my car?
Will it be what was promised/expected?
Will I stay within Budget?
Will it be finished before Ex-Biker’s car?

I can’t wait to find out
Andy

Ouch!

Bitch!

You could have picked on someone else.

It looks like I need a supercharger, a little nitro and an extra engine in the front now. That should make yours look a little slower.

Good look Andy. I'm sure you will get what you are after from Vince. Sounds like you could help Vince produce a more modern body that he could sell afterwards.

How long did your Ultima take to build?

The body's not really going to change... its small things like the rear valance/lights and the front bumper section/lights....... its amazining what a difference to the overall look small changes can make.
I've been fortunate that Vince see's the things that I want changing as good developments for the car anyhow.... I think he plans to offer them as options.

The Ultima took me 8mths to get to SVA and around 400hrs in all including the 100hrs work after SVA like adding a wing, roof etc....

Nice one mate. But dare I say it, it's probably going to be cheaper to buy a Testarossa!

Good luck

You suggesting it looks like a Ferrari?... shame on you after the scalding you just gave me about doing this
DId I mention how much the original Ultima looked like a 917?

Reality is the look was not inspired by the Testarossa but the Koenig competition..... splitting hairs maybe but it does look very different and I intend to change some areas to make it even more individual as it was the Unique look that originally attracted me to Ultima.

I wasn't looking for a replica.... it was just the only car that fitted 90% of my requirements... the 10% being the requirement for it to have a unique look!

Anyhow who would want a Testarossa it's:
-500kgs heavier.
-200bhp less powerful.
-expensive to run (it's unbeleivable how much cheaper Kit-car are to insure).
-and most importantly... you can't build it youself

That seems pretty quick for an Ultima. Then again 400hrs is a fairly good time in which to build one.

I'm thinking 200-250hrs for me. I hope 2-3 months then??????? ( )

Excellent! Good luck Andy. I assume you'll be keeping us regularly informed of progress. On the car that is, not the arrival of the decree nici (sp?)

You're not quite alone. I bought a Python off Vince.

I stripped the donor over x-mas and once I get my snowboarding holiday out of the way I'll be putting the thing together.

Is the Nemesis going BMW donor for the running gear as well?

Actually I'd like to publically thank John (nemesisV8)for all his time and hounest advice on my next project.

He has basically let me crawl around his car on quite a number of occasions and even let me corner weight it, as I was more than a little doubtfull about the claims that Vince was making about the weight distribution (he was right).

Thanks John

To answer a few Q's.

I will be doing a web site... but I have to do some investigation into the best ways first, but I may add a page to my current one in the meantime.

Monty... the car will be using all new bits except the engine/gearbox. All the uprights wishbones etc.ect.. will be new. I only have the complete 750il as it came up extremelly cheap.
Good luck with your Cobra... I suspect your chasis could be comming over with mine!
What donor are you useing?

Thank for the comments, I enjoyed buiding the car and it was mainly thanks to Vince Wright that I have ended up with the car that I have(he has to be the best engineer I have ever come across).

The web site seem to get plenty of attention even now so I agree that a build diary is well worth the effort.

Andy, I am always willing to help .

Just a brief update..... I've done bugger all.

Actually that’s not entirely true, my work has taken a steep upward curve and I am now seriously overloaded so I have done nothing towards getting a site up and running......

......However I have still kept my eyes open for bits and done a little digging

The result of this is I now have another two V12 engines..... one for stripping (bought for £10 but apart from a snapped cam seems 100%).... another for bench testing and development of the engine management and turbo’s set up...... and a complete running car for taking data from.

I have started stripping the cheapest one and the innards of the BMW V12 are well impressive to my moderately untrained eye, I can barely find any wear even on the alloy bores of this engine and I can hardly believe the valves never touched the pistons when the cam snapped…… I'm currently very glad I decided to use this engine.

On the technical side I have decided to use cosworth turbo’s as they are cheap and readily available, of cause the other deciding factor could have been that I have a spare hybrid T3 for my cossie that I can use…..

In true Andy style I’m starting to get a bit carried away…

Andy

I seem to remember you telling me that you were not using Jag running gear (I think that's what the original uses).

What are you using? BM stuff?
