Very nice.

The chassis is similar to that of a Riot but with extra tubes down the sides.

Fiesta based so 1.25 to 1.6 (or 1.7 if you can find a Puma version)

Rumoured to be buildable for 7K.

Websites all down for some reason so no more details. Hopefully this will be fixed frown

It certainly looks very nice. I would be particularly interested to see a picture with an average height occupant, though, as I have a feeling that the looks aren't going to be quite so well balanced. This is always a problem with small cars.

Yes, It will be known as "the car formerly known as the Spectre"

I hoping the American guys working it over for our market will go V-tec -- nothing runs like a Honda!

Some photos from my visit start of July, I think Jeremy is a wee bit shorter than me (I'm 5'10") but even so I don't think anyone under 6'4" is going to look too weird.

I'll try to find some more photos, but a lot weren't up to snuff as the AF on my then new Eos 50D was dicking around - not good enough for a camera that expensive.

Now if they could stretch the Spectre to take a V8 like this old Lotus 30

Naah, too long, to heavy, and too expensive to build (though it’s sweet for sure!). I think I hot for the Spectre (sung to the tune of that Van Halen song Hot for teacher!)

what are the legal reasons that the car cant be called Spectre anymore?

is this the reason?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectre_R42

but the company fell into bankruptcy 1997, already.

Don't know but it doesn't necessarily matter whether the company is extant or not: it's who owns the rights to the name.

How many brand names does BMW retain after the Rover debacle? IIRC they spanked Audi pretty hard over the use of Metro - and that was just a concept car. BMW of course are responsible for the greatest outflanking manoeuvre of all time as regards Rolls Royce.

Ford sold the rights to the GT40 name years ago, and the current owners price was too high which is why the redux is simply 'GT', and I think it's a similar story with the Viper...er, I mean SRT10 of course

Are you sure about that?

There was a Spectre R45 prototype in 1998, but also spy pictures of a supposed Spectre last year or earlier this year. Unless that was a big cover up over the new Esprit or something.

more serious -- how about:

English

Sting -- it's small and a threat etc.

Snap -- takes off as fast as you can snap your fingers

Quick -- obvious

Fai -- fast in Chinese

Bali -- fast in Korea

pistol -- obvious

dragonfly -- highly maneuverable

Strike -- as with weapon

I like the Italian too

tempesta -- tempest, or storm

velocità -- speed

Presto very fast (musical term)

veloce -- swift

risposta -- response

volpe - fox

rapido -- rapid

pistola -- pistol

I agree they are stunning and I'd love to build one. A quick tot up of the prices on their website a week or so ago (not going silly with the custom 'bones/uprights etc.) and guestimating other bits and bobs saw it over the 10k mark so I suspect once you included all the bits I forgot, IVA etc. it'll be £12k frown

I think a Top Gear cool wall rule applies here: if you have to explain it, it's uncool wink

Like Fai, Veloce & Volpe

Good rule, I wonder why it's so often violated by the major manufacturers! lol

Veloce might not be too misunderstood, though the Chinese and Korean would obviously be missed by most of the crowd.

Snap might be bad if something actually broke -- might give it a bad name.

10-12 grand for one seems pretty reasonable -- cheaper than a Caterham or Birkin by a fair amount. If I do one I'm hoping to get a V-tec into it.

Chaos, not bad -- did you suggest that over on the 7 site? and the Jeremy Philips board? I think the man himself frequents both of them.

Also Mayhem -- speaking of Riots! lol -- it's going to cause trouble for sure!

I've mentioned to Jon Regan & Mark Fisher who will have passed it on to Jeremy. To avoid any further IP issues we thought Sylva Kaos would work just as well...
