BigRon said:I don’t know if you’ll count this as improvement, but it shall not have the Rally Design catalogue again next month. That advert (or special report) would be a hefty repeat.
Ex-Biker said:Neither. It's the fact that the cover boasts about how big the magazine is, while the editorial content is very light - 62 pages out of 260.
I'm confused?
Are you complaining about the price increase or that Den has done what he said he was going to, by removing any bits referring to WK?
Although he may help to address that if next month's (free ) copy shows an improvement!
Next (free ) issue is 212 pages which is the same as the December and January issues. However there will be slightly more pages of editorial. About 70 pages of editorial to be precise. That’s more than in the past so, I’m sure you’ll regard it as ‘improved’.
For what it’s worth Ron, I don’t think that the problem is in the number of pages but rather in what they’re about. I accept that the mix this time around could have been better. It happens that way sometimes.
I think the mix, combined with the claim and the catalogue (not to mention recent arguments about another magazine whose name I can’t recall) have conspired with the price rise to cause you to stamp your feet.
By your own admission, you’re not finding as many mistakes these days, I’m not taking as many pops at a certain fellow and (tempting fate) I’ve cured the bit-mapped image problem. I think repro and photography has improved, as has the general standard of journalism and the number of pages.
The cover paper is thicker, the contents paper is to be upgraded next issue. In short – I’m doing my best to ensure I deliver £3.60 worth of reading pleasure to those who want that. I’m also, at no extra cost to you, supplying an ‘exchange and mart’ of the kit car world. Whether you want one or the other or both, I’m producing the two for one price.
So, have the next free and be assured that there shall be ongoing improvements in issues to come as indeed there have been over the past few months.
Den
If it'll cheer you up Den, the quality of Kit Car this month is actually better IMHO than some other months. The article on p26 about the Trident was very interesting and the technical content is improving. At least you have somebody who has a good grasp of technical issues writing articles.
Compare that the the guide to the Hayabusa engine in your other favourite mag. Nothing more than a quick 20min telephone call to Dax/Westfield/Tiger would give you everything in that article . . . Very disapointing.
I also think that the Rally Design catalouge is a great insert, I've still got the last one in an old CCC mag.

Well, as promised, without fear or favour my albeit brief review of this month@s (February's) Kit car Mags...
Kit car.....Well a nice big juicy issue, but I am afraid the Rally Design catalogue was of no interest to me, so I will discount that, although no doubt Den made a pretty penny from it
Content, well as Den himself admitted, it was a bit thin on the ground this month, this is no critisism, but I just did not find many features that appealed to me personally, although the Madgwick article was OK.
Now, WK? I quite enjoyed, I found the Cobra feature informative, also the Hayabusa engine write up excellent.
Also owning a Tiger myself John (Doctor) Watson's build of the Tiger Avon took my eye, so I am afraid to say this month it was Kitcar 0 WK? 1.....
Still, one swallow doesn't make a summer as they say, so I don't think Den should be putting his head in the gas oven just yet , I am sure you have a broad back, and assure you my negative review has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that I will be about the only person on this forum not receiving a free copy of KC next month.......

Vince,
As it happens, I added your company to the mailing list.
You’ll get your copy in a couple of weeks time. I’ve also put you down to get a copy of Cobra which will be posted next week.
Why on earth you closed the door on Kit Car and why you believe blacklisting me and giving your exclusive support to Fib’s is good for your business is beyond me. The reasons you’ve given don’t make sense to me, certainly not commercial sense.
Please regard these gifts, and their huge postage cost, as another olive branch. Enjoy!

I'm afraid I agree with busa_rush about the article on the bike engine. Although extreme knowledgable about car engines, it was fairly obvious that he was new to bike power.
Nice talking about the power but remember, in most powerful bikes the standard engine will be kicking out around 700bhp/ton.
Wacky, I think I'll be joining you in paying for Kit Car next month. I've got no more reasons left to give Den as to why I want it free. Anyway, just think without me and you (and a few thousand others) he wouldn't be able to make a living.

He has to be a month out ?? he thinks its comming up to Christmas!!!
and as for adds in kitcar GETTING ALL THE PUBLICITY I NEED !!! :
Blimey
I came here today to start a forum about the content of this months kitcar but it seems most things have been covered apart from on pages 40/41.
Its this bitchiness which puts me off buying either mag as I can tell many think its been going on toooooo long now!!!
I dont think the readers of both mags (as it seems people who buy kit mags buy both) care which one sells the most or has the best content.
Ive had a minis for years and when it came to buying a mini mag it was mini world or mini magazine.
And in 7 years of buying them on and off how many times did I see them making comments about each other?
I think you can all guess!!
I make my choice in the shops but only if both are on offer which is not normally the case with kit mags so it makes the whole rival thing seem even more pointless.
This time I was in the my local shop to buy TG magazine and then see a big heavy kitcar mag telling me about 260 page value.
I'm not gonna break it down as its already been done so im just here to show my disappointment.
If it wasnt for the value part on the front cover and more tired comments on 40/41 I enjoyed the read.
I will carry on buying kc and wk (and actually buy a kit this year)just wanted to have a rant about the content so please can we bring all this to an end.
phew rant over
