So I just spent the weekend driving the Murtaya around in order to find any final issues that need to be addressed before final delivery...and all the issues and headaches with this car over the last seven years were totally redeemed in the last two days. The car is incredible.
The new steering wheel rim that wraps the existing STi wheel hub feels fantastic--it's a thicker Alcantera wheel with a smaller diameter and flat bottom. I also had them put a short shifter in; it still needs some adjusting, but it still feels good.
The car was so much fun to drive and attracts SO much attention...Supposedly that gets old after a while, but until then, being an attention w***e is awfully fun!
One of the things that it still needs is new trim between the door and windows...Does anybody know what is used for that trim? My original stuff has since been lost/destroyed in the last several years. It looks like it needs to be pretty thick/wide; the guy working on the body hasn't been able to find anything that fits....any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike

Hi everyone
I thought I would quickly introduce myself
As you are all aware Murtaya sports cars has been up for sale for the past couple of months, well I have now purchased Murtaya Sports Cars and we have now taken delivery of all mould etc and relocated them to the North East of England.
My name is Andrew and I would like to thank those at MSC for allowing me to take this on, and I look forward to driving the business forward over the coming months and years. I am a Mechanical Engineer that has been working in Project Management for an Engineering firm for the last few years, and i will be running the company along with my wife. We also run a small export company, that has grown substantially over the last 2 years that will support us in getting Murtaya back up and running. It is our intention to get the business up and running as quickly as we can and we are looking at developing a new website over the next few weeks.
We aim to get in touch with all the registered owners over the next few weeks to get your opinions and I look forward to hearing your views on build and living with a Murtaya once regitered and on to the road
I also intend on getting in touch with those that have made enquiries too, and will be in touch with those I have details of as soon as I can
I will try to keep everyone updated with our plans and progress and I look forward to meeting you all soon
Thanks
Andrew

This is some great news! Congrats, good luck, and thanks for carrying on what I (and many others) think is a GREAT car. After having just recently FINALLY given my car the first official drive, I can say that not only am I more excited than ever about this car, everybody who sees it is very interested, too...I thought I would quickly introduce myself

If I can do anything to help from the States, let me know. I've also been quietly moving my website stuff from www.murtaya.com to www.mymurtaya.com; it was originally to give the www.murtaya.com domain to MSC hoping it could help them, but if it might now help you to have the domain, let me know.
Again, thanks and good luck!
Mike
Thanks-
I've always kinda put the BRZ in a slightly different boat than the Murtaya, personally. The Murtaya is (or should be) lighter and still retains the AWD...and tends to have a lot more torque and power on average. And you'll get a lot more looks in the Murtaya, if that's your thing. And no convertible BRZ.........yet. But they did go for the perfect balance in the BRZ/GT-86/FRS and I'm sure they're also great fun to drive.
I'm still stoked that ASMURT is taking over the Murtaya business. So cool.

I'd like to see a new back to basics version with all the creature comforts of a 7, where you can buy a kit AND a Scooby to put a lightweight turbo 4WD beastie on the road for WAY under £15k... Surely that must be possible??
Wait...Is that sarcasm? It just seems like that would be near imp-Oops...I originally thought you meant creature comforts of a 7-SERIES for way under £15k. Nevermind.
Oh, and just for Martin, I'm going to dust every BRZ/FR-S I see.
(Just kidding. Don't race on the street, kids.)

As I remember it, when launched it would have been possible to do just that. Take 1 old Scooby throw the body on ebay and build it back into the new GRP shell.I think over time most of the people who bought them were trying to build them to a high spec with 500bhp engines and register them as new. The impression became that you couldn't build one for less then 25k. I have heard 40k being mentioned!
Make it easy to build and achievable for 15k and it should fly!

By Stoneleigh it was " Give us £25k and an Impreza donor and we will...... "
I think it proved to be a bit harder / more expensive to produce than even they imagined. But I think if it was produced in a way that literally EVERYTHING bolted straight up into a GRP tub with minimal trim ( optional to cover hard surfaces etc. in Alcantara ) I don't really see how it cannot be made cheaply? Can it really be not possible to offer a comprehensive kit for about £12k?? Surely it can only be steel and GRP parts? Everything else is donor?
