long time lurker of the murtaya, and my son thinks its time we built a kit car, id love to do one of these - drove the black rally demo at arden a few years back, is the murtaya long term company ownership issues behind them, what i dont want to do is start one and it goes belly up and im left with half a car that will be near on impossible to finish.

any thoughts

try contacting arden automotive to have a look at their cars as they have built several
ALS have bought moulds for murtaya and sorting through paperwork/moulds at present so they would be best to buy kit from as think arden have several built ones-ALS posted 1 page back as asmurt

yes thanks, the new owner emailed me, but to be honest im not interested in starting a £20k plus build to a company that has had a sketchy past, im sure the new people have very good intensions and wouldnt of entered into this with failure on their minds but its too much of a risk for me sadly. I say sadly as they are great cars

sorry to hear, did you try arden they have 2-3 murtayas in various build stages so could still have input into build if not wanting to put all money into new company
several murt owners have had their cars at arden at some point nick me mark off top of my head so they know a fair bit about them
gave mine a good blast yesterday along a roads on way back from work-now extremely dirty lol

yes as said above ive driven the car arden had as a demo a few years back, been to their place to do so, i havent contacted them recently but that wont remove my fears of the company that now owns the 'right's moving forward.I guess its always a risk buying any car, even a saab.... but these smaller car companies present a huge financial risk if buying in stages, you can never tell whats going to happen, at best if the company goes belly up you might have a part finished car/kit, at worst, you dont receive what you have ordered/paid for.

But hey thats my decision and i dont want to dwell on that for the people that are seriously considering this car, i dont want to make negative posts about what is a great car, i wish the new owners all the success with the car.

Hopefully there should be a new article/review out on a certain U.S. Murtaya soon...I'll post a link as soon as I get it. Anybody play Forza? wink

Other than that, apart from a few instances of the bonnet hovering up at high speed (no other Murtayas need worry about this; we're using a one-off electric bonnet latch on my car, and I don't think it's been tested before at triple-digit speeds), the car has been incredible.

My cousin also wanted to do a photo shoot with it, so you can see a few shots of the car under the Seattle skyline: Murtaya Photo Shoot

Here's the article! They tried to get some video, but they didn't have much time to edit it...but I think the pictures turned out great:

Forza Motorsport Heavy Metal Affliction: Murtaya

(To be honest, I haven't read the article yet; I'm so excited that I just wanted to post it. I hope it's kind.......)

Hi Mike nice pictures
I have been following the forum for a long time now.
I am a very slow Murtaya builder, i have not made any progress in the last 6 months but seeing your car has got me motivated again.

Apart from 'Cornwall Roads' (should be Cornish Roads) it looks like a nice article. Well done on getting the car to the state it is now. looks great.

Glad to hear it Mike! Keep it up--it's worth it in the end (though you'd probably be hard pressed to convince me of that during the process, to be honest). I've also got some pages ready for updates to your car smile

That was actually the short SHORT version...I think I gave him several pages of condensed history, and he cut it down from there.

So when you say the gear lever detached, you mean the shifter lever just pops off? Or does it just disconnect from the linkage?

I hit a tire iron (hidden under leaves on the road) and it came up and gouged through the paint and gel coating on the side of the Murtaya...It's pretty noticeable since it's white underneath. Is there a quick way patch or temporarily fix this? I was thinking I could just put some black paint over it for now (it's about a square cm in size), but if there's a better solution...It's probably not worth it to do a full sand/coat/paint job.
