Did you ever start working on the body molds? If not, have you come across anyone who has molds and offers a reproduction body for the 787b? Thanks in advance.

Would be interested in knowing!

Judging by the positive reception GTClive's thread is getting (about his 962 replica) - I'd have thought there was a market for these.

Would rather have one in the garage than an F458 bodied MR2 (no offence if you own one).

After a very long time with no progress I'm finally working on the 787B again. No work on the chassis and running gear yet, concentrating more on the engine right now. As we all know, the main issue with my original plan was the lack of a rotary engine, however this is set to change. Around a year ago I bought a first gen RX7 complete with an engine that needed a rebuild but came with a whole load of spare engine parts. The engine in question is a 12A rotary turbo that I have fully rebuilt ready to drop into the car. During the rebuild I have measured and drawn up all the oem 12A Mazda internals, picked up some RX8/13B parts for comparison and drew them up, visited a guy who kindly let me have a look at some three and four rotor internals and and drew them all up as well. To cut a long story short (more info on the blog) I'm now at the point where I am going to start machining the parts to put together my own four rotor engine!

To start with, here are some experiments I've carried out introducing exhaust ports into junk RX8 rotor housings

Standard RX8 housing, note lack of anyperipheral ports:

Option 1, machine for steel port runner

Option 2, machine and press in raw material for creating port

In answer to questions, I didn't get any further with body moulds yet but I still have the CAD models safely stored..

Nice to see you are still working on it.

I've seen someone do the same with the housings before.

The "crank" is where all the real effort is though, that multi-part e-shaft is expensive or hard to make.

For those who haven't seen what goes into a 4-rotor https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-294/4-rotor-...
