Does anybody know the curb weight of the DAX RUSH with let´s say a FORD 4-pot? Is it certainly heavier than Westies and Caterhams? Cheers.

Outon,

I have a Dax Rush with a Ford Pinto in it and I have often wondered about the same question. I have just looked in my folder and the only information I can find is it says "max design wieght for both axels is 890kg", now I am not sure if that is the actual weight or the max wieght the axels can cope with.

I must admit it does seem rather heavey but I once dropped the engine and it certainly felt heavy (which I know it is) when it hit the floor.

890 kg? That must be the maximum authorized weight you can load the car with...or the Rush is a car heavier than I thought. Thanks a lot!

Yep That is the max permissable load. You can get a fine for exceeding that. I *think* it is closer to the 600 kg mark

I thought so, I must admit 890 kg seemed a tad heavy. I could get it weighed on a local weigh bridge if u really want to know.

My Rush with a pinto in it was 580 kg without heaters, carptets and all of that comfort stuff. Converted now to a cossie and its probably 620-640 now. I've tried to keep it light as much as possible.

Dont know where the 890 kg comes from but afaik even the 4x4 quadra Rushes are nothing like as heavy as that. Its probably a figure for SVA or something.

If someone was near me I could corner weigh it for them....... I'd be interested to know as it was on a shortlist of one for turning my cossie into a kit car.

They told me 650kgs for a cossie engined Rush....

I'd also be interested in views on their cars from Dax owners with cossie engine in.

What do you want to know Andy? As i said above i've got a cossie Rush so you can quiz me if you want.

If you've got a load of specific questions it might be worth joining the owners club mailing list, there are owners of all the variants on there.

My rush cossie was weighed by the original builder at 650kg. I thought this was a bit optimistic so i posted the same question on the dax cars message board and had this figure confimed.

Hope this helps

Tim.

My Hayabusa powered Rush with camber compensation, heavey wheels and tyres, full tank of fuel and a few tools was 526 Kg. That will come down to under 470 Kg very easily without using any carbon fibre etc.

My main questions relate to how usable a high powered cossie engine would be in a rush..... is it fun or would a high power bike engine be better suited/ more fun.

It would be an "instead of the bike" car so not worried at all about hood, screen carpets etc.... but it would have to be reliable and very fast but contollable (like my Ult).

hmmm, usable means different things to different people i suppose, but as long as your sensible and dont have a digital right foot then it'll generally stay pointing in the right direction.

I've got a stage 3 kit in mine, supposedly 300-330 bhp and 300 lbft and its pretty usable. Forget it in the wet though, just leave it in the garage.

Traction is your main problem, the Ultima has a good bit more of its weight over the driven wheels whereas all the Rush has is the contents of the fuel tank, the diff and you.

Never been in a bike engined Rush although i believe they're pretty phenomenal, but i guess hard work around town. Its only going to be as reliable as you build it to be.
