Well, I received my 148 page "biggest ever March issue" of Which Kit?.....

And after 12 months of silence, publisher Peter Filby finally takes the gloves off in a blistering attack on "Kit Car" and uncle Den, pages 9 and 81 devoted to an enormous blitzkreig......

Well, you'll just have to buy it yourself to see..

Better get your tin hat out Den

Batten down the hatches, we're in for a bumpy ride.......

Ted, do you ever sleep or do could you enter the Guiness book of records for staying awake for 5 years patrolling the forums?

In my opinion, Filby is playing quite a clever game.

He kept his mouth shut all the while Den was ranting and raving in the pages of KCM, allowing him enough rope and all that. This let him appear to be taking the "it's all below me" stance.

Now that Den has stopped putting quite so many silly pieces in KCM, the points he does raise could start to be seen as valid points, not being tarnished with all the other venom.

So at this point, Filby drops a few digs - the oh so subtle editors column a month or two ago and now this - all in the hope that Den will bite hook line and sinker and start all over again.

That's my assesment anyway. All that's left to be seen now is whether Den bites...

Hmmm... is Wacky Racer Fibly in disguise?

<joking!>

Brilliant PR..... I wasn't going to get this month's WK (As I've said before, I have bought both for the last couple of years) as part of a "belt-tightening" routine that has been installed in the Meeja household for a month or two.

Now I have to go and buy a copy (I can't do the "read it in WHS" either!)

Aaaaaaahhhhh..............

Was fearing the worst. I hope it's helpful to Den to have a refletive period so that he can sit back and see everybodies reaction and realise we haven't got any particular inclinations either way.

We are, after all, their mutual customers, and also their advertisers customers. I support a sabbatical for the public from this.

Why should I, or the rest or us subsidise your dream! Just because you leech on the system. Get a life and pay your way!!!

Hi Guys, I'm new. Just joined up here.
I've been involved in kit cars for over 20 years. In the 80s several of my friends and my brother built kits, and in 1993 I built my own Beauford using a 2.8 straight 6 engine, manual gearbox and Cortina mechanicals.
Since the very first WK came out I have bought it, as well as KCI when it was about - and now KC.
I read about the fraudulent WK adverts with horror and disgust - and I am no naive simpleton. Because of its leading market position and it's title (that leads one to suppose a connection - not claimed - with the Which titles) I never doubted WK's integrity until the moment that I first saw Den's missives in KC. It became clear that WK was simply telling lies, not just about its readership - but about production kits - making exaggerated claims about cars before they were even built. This is Kit Car behaviour at its very worst - just the sort of thing that used to happen in the bad old days when a new 'kit car' would pop up and advertise, take some deposits and then disappear without a trace. This is exactly why it is so difficult for new kits to start up, and just the sort of thing that WK should be campaigning against. Fibs has set the credibility of the Kit Car scene back at least 10 years. How can we now believe anything it prints about any car in future? I will never buy Which Kit again, at least while Fibs is there.
I have looked back over this story over the past few months and I have to say I don't find much humour in it. I am grateful to Den for producing the competition to WK that we needed and for the courage to bring this integrity issue to public notice, for had he not printed them I for one would not have known.
Okay, that's my tuppence worth. Great site Ted, and thanks for listening to a newby, guys.

The bitter clash between Whick Kit and Kit Car has been quite high profile on here for some time and has resulted in some quite bitter posts as well as many leaving..... hence ted's precense as big brother until we can play quitely by ourselves.

I for one quite enjoyed Kitcar man's contributions. OK he was a bit eccentric, and more than a touch obsessed, but he appeared to be right more often than he was wrong and it is very quiet here without him.

My feelings on this are the same as my feelings on any form of censorship, if you don't like it then don't read it (or watch it, or listen to it etc). But don't try to impose your choice on others.

If we are all adults then surely we can make up our own minds, and make our own choices. Unless there are illegal or libelous goings on of course.

I miss Den, there are so few people these days that will stand up for what they believe in and try, in some way, to stamp on the wrong.

Isn't there a saying that "All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing" ? At least Den was doing something about it which is I guess mnore than most of us.
